I'd be surprised if Maidana landed anything of note throughout the entire fight. Mayweather is going to land at will all night. He might even stop him. He's far more deserving of it than khan, but it's a less than inspiring choice of opponent for a fighter the calibre of Mayweather.

at least Maidana's got a ton of recent examples on what not to do. He's a very, very focused guy, I'm sure he will give it a real go. Floyd is brilliant but he's only a man and he can be beaten. Unlikely, but not impossible.

Shit fight. Starts a poll 'let the fans choose' then ignores the unwanted result. Prick.

Its a horrible fight. Maidana isn't going to lay a glove on him. He's slow footed and crude. A recipe for disaster against Mayweather. That's. Why he's been chosen.

To be fair to Mayweather he's hardly going to be scared of Khan, I'd say Maidana's been chosen as he's coming off a big win against Broner, whereas Khan's been inactive & hasn't had a big win for a few years, Floyd is all about the money.

Agree it'll be a terribly one-sided fight though, Maidana is absolutely tailor-made for Floyd, another UD12 coming up.

What was the point in the poll then? I agree with everyone that Khan definitely didn't deserve the fight going off his recent record. But although Maidana deserves it more after the Broner win, we've now got ourselves a less competitive fight. I'm 99% sure Khan would have given Mayweather more problems than Maidana and Floyd knows it hence the decision to go against the poll results.

Look on the bright side, this might mean you get to see the Khan v Brook match you're always raving about.

Mayweather and his team are laughing at us all. He is arrogant beyond belief . The poll was a complete joke. Can you imagine Mayweather and his hangers-on sneering at everyone each day when they looked at the figures?

It was always going to be Maidana, who in comparison to Mayweather is slower than a week in the jail. Easy fight for the most money.

Personally, I think that for the first 6 rounds at any rate, Hatton was his toughest opponent, and it could have been a lot tougher if the referee wasn't biased.

Mayweather is a laughing stock. He's fighting Khans, Kotelniks & Devon Alexanders leftovers. Dare i say Maidana even lost to a 1-eyed corpse of Morales. This will be the first Floyd fight i won't bother staying up to 6am for since pre-Oscar.

Obviously Khan was gonna win the poll when he was sending his million plus twitter followers to vote. Maidana only has about 200k.

Easy fight for Mayweather. He will frustrate Marcos then pick him off. Khan would have given him more problems. Real shame

That may be true but surely that's the same thing, he won the poll as he's more popular, he's got 5 times the twitter followers as he's more popular. As I said before, Maidana deserved it more on merit but Khan would have been a better match up stylistically.

Yeah but ive also read that Maidana was getting a ton of votes on facebook and instagram and other places. Also in regards to Khan being more popular, hence more followers. I dont think that's necessarily true. Khan was a 17 yr olympic silver medallist who has had a ton of media coverage over the years hence being more well known than Maidana. I dont think it's because he's more popular.

Yeah true, Khan is definitely more well-known but also not liked by many.

I'm glad about the choice of opponent as I wanna see Mayweather live and im more likely to get a ticket for this fight than I would be against some of the other names. :TU:

Ive not been excited for any Mayweather opponent for years to be honest.

I certainly wasn't for Canelo either.

Oscar vs Mayweather and Hatton vs Mayweather captured the imagination but nobody else. Cotto might have been up there, but happened much too late to be meaningful.

Even now, despite the miles on their clocks, Cotto vs Martinez is infinitely more interesting.
