Re: allegedly TAKING PISS OUT OF SKY
I'm always tempted to do the same & cancel Sky Sports for the lack of boxing, especially with PPV making a big comeback, but nights like last Saturday & the upcoming Burns fight make it good value for me in the end.Benelio wrote:Cancelled Sky Sports this month. Boxing is the only sport I watch, and to pay an extra 23 quid for two nights of boxing a month seems too steep when allegedly show at least three shows for £10.
Looks a lot better now it's in HD, and although the presentation is less slick than Sky, there's less cliches being thrown around by the presenters - and it feels a whole lot more grounded in comparison.

Huh? 2 PPV fights in almost 3 years? I can't move for all the PPVs clogging up the schedules.Boxerbeetle123 wrote:I'm always tempted to do the same & cancel Sky Sports for the lack of boxing, especially with PPV making a big comeback, but nights like last Saturday & the upcoming Burns fight make it good value for me in the end.Benelio wrote:Cancelled Sky Sports this month. Yeah it is - I am hoping though that this puts all there content across in HD as at the moment they seem to be only showing live shows via HD. Rest of the time there is nothing on there.REEVE wrote:i heard its going up to £12 a month in april...
I pay for Sky Sports but not just for boxing so I am happy with what I get.

Re: allegedly TAKING PISS OUT OF SKY
Fair point, but the only reason there's been just 2 PPV fights in almost 3 years is because Sky were taking a break from it after the Haye vs Klitscho backlash, now the dust has settled it's clearly back for good, we'll have soon had 3 Froch fights in a row all on PPV. Hearn has already stated pretty much all future big fights will have to be on Sky box office due to costs etc, I won't hold my breath about PPV disappearing anytime soon.earsjohn wrote:Huh? 2 PPV fights in almost 3 years? Re: allegedly TAKING PISS OUT OF SKY
Totally agree. Essentially it means Carl Froch is no longer on SKY Sports. It also means fights that would usually appear on SKY Sports are likely to feature on PPV undercards. I'm sure someone on here suggested Tommy Coyle Vs. Kevin Mitchell in a final world title eliminator is planned for the Froch Vs. Groves undercard. Such a shame as that would have made a good SKY Sports main event :(Boxerbeetle123 wrote: Fair point, but the only reason there's been just 2 PPV fights in almost 3 years is because Sky were taking a break from it after the Haye vs Klitscho backlash, now the dust has settled it's clearly back for good, we'll have soon had 3 Froch fights in a row all on PPV. Re: allegedly TAKING PISS OUT OF SKY
I left after the poured money into a non-sport like F1 and slashed their boxing coverage. I like Eddie Hearn and Matchroom are doing a reasonable job but his cards simply haven't been stacked and Prizefighter is a waste of space. Not really Matchroom's fault, Sky have just lost interest and have basically handed a reduced budget to Hearn and told him to crack on.Boxerbeetle123 wrote:I'm always tempted to do the same & cancel Sky Sports for the lack of boxing, especially with PPV making a big comeback, but nights like last Saturday & the upcoming Burns fight make it good value for me in the end.Benelio wrote:Cancelled Sky Sports this month. It's circumstances though. I work loads and at varied hours. I only really have time to just about catch up with the allegedly stuff I record. I'd never get through everything if I had Sky anyway!
Re: allegedly TAKING PISS OUT OF SKY
They've picked up Odlanier Solis Vs. Tony Thompson on the 22nd March.
Good start for 2014 from B0xnati0n. HD channel finally up and running, albeit part time at the moment, and 8 live shows in the month of March. 2 shows for April confirmed on their website so far with another 4 to be confirmed soon. The 4 fights being confirmed don't include Bradley Vs. Pacman II or Klitschko Vs. Leapai.... so far. It's a real possibility they'll have 8 live shows next month too. Well worth £12.00.

Do you get paid for all your post pushing the channel?chad wrote:They've picked up Odlanier Solis Vs. Tony Thompson on the 22nd March.

Seconded - you are basically me.Boxerbeetle123 wrote:Sky really pisses me off the way you basically have to subsidise all the stuff you don't want to watch. I've got no real interest in any sports outside boxing & football, and basically only watch the HBO dramas on Sky Atlantic, yet I have to pay 100 odd quid a month for the privilege.ashedward wrote:Sky through Hearn has the best domestic content imo but with the best international content and a sometimes okay domestic content Allegedy channel are better for sure but I`m a fan of many sports so i`m content and happy with my Sky packages as welldaviddee wrote:People don't give allegedly the credit it deserves.. It's the best Chanel for boxing streets ahead of Sky.. Saying that was impressed by the Sky card at the weekend. Let's see how this weekends one goes easy accumulator I think
Should be able to pay for each channel individually, but we all know Sky will never allow this due to the massive loss of revenue which would occur, they know most people only ever watch a few channels regularly.
Having a dedicated boxing channel is absolute class for British fans & we should appreciate it more than we do, for all its faults, allegedly has delivered quality & value for money pretty much every single month since launch, its easy to forget how few international cards Sky have screened over the past 6 or 7 years since its boxing budget got slashed.
How I manage to convince Mrs Maxsplit to pay half of the Sky subscription is beyond me!
Obviously I nobly pay the allegedly subscription myself.

I'm undecided.
Bradley is adaptable and must be brimming with confidence after Marquez performance and showed he can give and take with Provodnikov.

How do you see it going?

Haha - one of the best things about allegedly is that the payment is completely separate from the Sky bill. I subscribed without telling my Mrs & spent a good few months pretending it was just an extra free channel before I got rumbled!
Re: allegedly TAKING PISS OUT OF SKY
Tell her it's the same as 4 pints, then see which she'd rather you do, boxing or the boozer, win-win situation.Boxerbeetle123 wrote:Haha - one of the best things about allegedly is that the payment is completely separate from the Sky bill. i got an f5s box and i get every channel in HD and sky 3D for a one off payment off of £85 for a year
Re: allegedly TAKING PISS OUT OF SKY
They sure are growing in popularity at the moment. Are you able to get Setanta Ireland on your box? My mate can on his. He watches 3pm Saturday kick-off games most weeks. This Saturday it's Everton Vs. Cardiff on Setanta Sports 1.gazza8 wrote:i got an f5s box and i get every channel in HD and sky 3D for a one off payment off of £85 for a year
