It's pretty shameful that a guy with this kind of amateur record http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Campbell_(boxer) is not ready to fight better opposition than journeyman not willing to throw back but yet Lomachenko is fighting for a world title in his second fight on saturday

There was rankings in the Boxing News magazine last month mate, Thats where I took it from, Not sure who publishes them etc but im sure it wouldnt be to hard to find out. I really like Simpson and dont see why a fight with Ronnie wouldnt be a tv fight, a top 10 domestic fighter whos in position to fight for a british. Im biased proberly yes but just think that it would be a good fight

Behave yourself, Lomanchenko is the exception not the rule, unless every amateur star ever has shamed the sport.

I wouldnt expect Luke to be doing what Lomachenko is now but he can still fight better opponents than the piss poor opposition he's fighting now.

The guy the other night wasn't THAT bad. He had just given Mitchell Smith a real test. Whatever, you don't have to rate him I suppose.

He wasnt that bad on paper but he didnt try and throw back against Campbell. Regarding me not rating him, I do think he's good or I wouldnt be frustrated watching these kind of matchups. They're pointless.

These repetitive threads are boring has hell now. It's obvious both sides don't like each other and have serious issues, but public forum is not place for it, it's becoming a joke now, on both party's behalf's, only seems to be Ricky Burns not getting involved, I understand Ronnie's brothers want to defend him but it's just making things worse, these threads are getting out of hand now, I've had my fair share of disagreements with Billy but there needs to be a line drawn at some points.

I can't see why these fights for Ronnie can't happen if he can't get no fights or sell tickets, but it's his managers job to get him the fights, if he isn't doing his job then that needs to be addressed, cuz with all respect I can't see many fighters fearing Ronnie so much that they don't want to fight him, he's not a killer for fuks sake, and I know the politics and rubbish business side of the sport can be frustrating but the reality is, if your not already established name, big ticket seller, Amatuer star, your not gonna get a fair crack of whip, is it fair ? No it's not, but it's the way it is and you need to get on with it.

Mitchell Smith, Anthony cacace, Kevin hooper, Martin j Ward or Hughes re-match would be decent chances for Ronnie to force his way into title contention.

I know Maxi Hughes team is looking for a opponent still for him in May, I was told by a very reliable source that the rematch with Hughes was refused by Team Clark, for his fight he had couple weeks ago and when I mentioned Ronnie for it in May was told they had refused it again, the first was refused cuz of bad hand and May was refused cuz of Eliminator there waiting on, who refused it, I can't say, but I know it could be for Eliminator which is what Hughes team is after if that's more tempting, because the Eliminator with Kay's just isn't gonna happen, simple has that and if team Clark believe it will then someone is lying or crazy in your team, Ronnie mate.

Kay's is defending his English against Glover, if Kay's wins the odds are likely that Steve Woods will put him into Mandatory to face winner of Walsh/Sykes for British title, but we ( team Troy ) have already won our British eliminator and may be made mandatory, so if the board say then we may have to face Kay's in final eliminator, so where does that leave Ronnie ?

Politics ain't good Ronnie, but if you and your team believe in you then get on the road and risk it, we've done it and a almost there now, we've got no big promoter or backing either pal, you just gotta tell your Bro's to ignore Billy and you do the business in the ring mate. Good luck and hope something comes up for you :TU:

Boxing Cutsman- Spot on and agree on everything you touched on there, We do need to tone it down with Billy just hard when someone is telling blatant lies about stuff you know aint true but hey bigger person and ignore it. Karma is a bitch, As for Maxi Hughes, Ronnie just cleared from doctors last week im sure, He did try get a fight but the Board made him get a medical certificate in which his surgeon refused to sign him fit. And in May I think there aiming to fight Kays whether eliminator or not hes wanting that fight. All the above fighters are ideal for Ronnie and a chance for him to showcase as you say. Good luck with the British title and hopefully troy gets his oppertunity.

Purse bids I believe go out on March 12th for me against Jon Kay's! Yeah the politics are so frustrating! It was at purse bids already but my manager had to withdraw due to my injuries! :( I think it will probs end up me vs Troy in a final Eliminator as I think Kays might pull out or go down another route after the Glover fight :o It all seems to be guess work though in boxing but just take it all as it comes :)

And the above comment highlights exactly what is wrong with British Boxing.

Are you saying that the only way an ambitious boxer can get a fight is to accept a fight against probably the top prospect in the country who is a weight division above ?

When you consider that the weigh in would be the day before the fight, what would be the weight difference come the time of the fight ?

At best this attitude takes the piss, at worse it is very dangerous.

They have weighed roughly the same throughout their careers. I was just asking. Let him fight Hughes again then, be a good bout.

When Ronnie has been heavier it's just to get fights!! It has also been on the day weigh in. Campbell has always been day before . There is genuinely 2 weight classes between them. Campbell will become a big light welter. Ronnie at a push could probably make featherweight.. I know Ronnie tweeted Hearn offering to fight Campbell a couple of times. I don't like the idea of the fight totally pointless.

What other routes are there for Kays? He's not going to win a European title, Walsh has the Commonwealth, little chance of going the International route, the British title is his only and best option to me.

Yh I agree with expe tbh, Kay's got no other choice if he beats glover.
Like I said in post above, the board will either make Kay's ( if he wins ) or Troy has mandatory or make them fight a final Eliminator, there the only choices & options IMO

If Jon Kay's v glover is march 8th and they are calling purse bids again on the 12th, Sykes v Walsh is not till April then I thought it would be more likely for ronnie and Kay's to fight. The purse bid was postponed. Troys last fight was an eliminator so is there not the idea he has to fight a final eliminator? Tommy will play by the dates I'd imagine and I can't see him losing out on the eliminator if I am honest .

If Kays win there's enough time to sort the final eliminator and winning the English title and defending it is probably enough to get a final eliminator. The board will want a mandatory in place for the new champion by the end of the year, if Ronnie fights Kays in June/July, final eliminator sometime between September and November, it's unlikely that there would be a mandatory defence by the end of the year. But if they make Kays-James as a final eliminator, that fight can be made for the summer, with the mandatory defence in the autumn. Ronnie would still be next in line for an eliminator anyway, there's no shortage of super featherweights for the board to throw in as opponents, but it will almost certainly be 2015 before he gets a title shot, regardless of whether Kays-James is made as a final eliminator.

Yeah im not quite sure how the eliminator process works but im sure Sykes has 1 more to win the belt outright? Both Sykes and Walsh are world ranked of course aswell as both have been pencilled in for world title fights with Walsh v Burns and Sykes v Broner? Im not sure how it would all pan out but what im saying is I can see Tommy chasing the Kays fight and making sure that fight happens. Ronnie is fighting in April so hopefully he can get decent opposition and take it from there. Of course Troys team are going to look for the quickest route for themselfs to get troy the fight and I just hope the Sykes/ Walsh fight happens in April

If Sykes beats Walsh he takes the belt outright, but he'll probably stick around for a while because there isn't a lot available right now above domestic level. There's no set process for eliminators, the board pick the fighters and it goes to purse bids, but promoters can request for fights to be made as eliminators, which is what Steve Wood will be doing if Kays beats Glover. Steve Wood holds more clout with the board than Tommy Gilmour, which always plays a part and Troy and his team will be pushing for a fight against Kays as a final eliminator or him being made mandatory, otherwise he has to sit around for the next 6 months waiting for his final eliminator and he's not had a lot of rounds recently. I can see Kays-James being sent out to purse bids as a final eliminator, with a fight between Ronnie and any of Ben Jones, Joe Murray, Maxi Hughes, Anthony Cacace, Mitchell Smith and Daniel McShane also being sent out to purse bids. The most likely of those six to me are Hughes and Cacace, Jones is coming off a defeat, Murray is fighting for the WBO European, McShane hasn't beaten any domestic fighters, suppose Mitchell Smith could get it though, Southern Area champion and he stopped the unbeaten Welsh champion Mark Evans in 2 on Saturday. If Smith gets it then it means a trip to London for Ronnie, likely on the Fury-Chisora II undercard, the others are more likely to travel to Scotland.

Yeah hopefully this happens he deserves it, really like him as a fighter and his work rate is exceptional. Got to be the unluckiest fighter in British Boxing regarding fights not happening.

expe- Its an exciting division if the fights come off and often flies under the radar, I agree about the set fighters and know there is a chance of Maxi Hughes, Cacace im sure has been fighting in America lately? i cant see Mitchell Smith being put in this early for it, hes still young and hes talking of fighting for the English title on IFL tv which may be vacated by Kays? But its a payday for Kays so good chance he will go down and fight on tv? which could leave a fight between James and Ronnie? I guess we will soon see, I have no idea how purse bids etc work and wouldnt pretend.

:TU: not far off I think, We would love a fight against Sykes or Buckland also, I think both there styles would gel with Troy brilliantly and make great cases for potential fights of the year, all action, no one taking backward step, fans would be in for some treat :box:

I think if sykes wins against walsh he will vacate and move up to lightweight. Sykes is big at the weight at sf and their r plenty of big fights and pay days at lightweight. If that happened it wud open up the shot at the british title quicker for all the named lads troy kays clark also martin j ward I've seen is dropping down and I'm sure matchroom wud like to get him the frame. If walsh wins their will some interesting disscusions at the board.

Did I not hear that Sykes beat Walsh as a amateur but Walsh felt robbed?? Might add some spice to that fight if it happens. I have a feeling this is destined to not happen. I hope I'm proved. Wrong as Sykes has been messed about enough already. I think he needs to win the title and have 1 defence to keep the belt. I'm sure his team if they do get it would push for the best fight to suit their fighter. I hope if Walsh pulls out again the belt is giving to Sykes as the champion and he should make a immediate mandatory. This is boxing anything can happen
