Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
His management seem happy to let him rise into a mandatory position by default - enough wins over fodder like this and he'll get there eventually. I really want to see Gavin fulfil his potential at world level. If he doesn't, this fight and the general rubbish standard of opposition will be a factor. Gavin is going to learn nothing by facing this guy and its a rubbish match up.
Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
This would be hilarious if it wasn't such a sad waste of time and talent.
Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
Frankie always says on Twitter that his next fight is a big one & they will announce it soon then they name someone no one has heard of. Sooner or later he must step up.
Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
His defeats have been against really poor opposition, this is a terrible fight, they are searching Africa for the worst fighters with ok records, just like they did for Don Broadhurst, the Commonwealth title is a joke, anyone can fight for it, Gavin won't fight for a world title this year with opponents like this, the good african fighters can't get a shot. What has happened with the European title ? Why don't we get Khan, Brook and Gavin in the mix, instead of this bullcrap, this is what is ruining boxing in this country, fighters arguing over who is top dog, yet not fighting each other, we had the same with Macklin, Barker and Murray, now we could end up with none left to fight each other, the same with Quigg and Frampton, they may never fight each other, the light middles the top 4 have not fought each other, super middle without Froch and Groves would be dead, thank god for the lightweights.

Good post. If Khan has other eggs in his basket would Brook consider a bout v Gavin?Pugilist-specialist wrote:Good post. For British boxing I hope it comes off, a real pick em fight, plus needle between them, could be like the Khan/ Maidana fight, but even better with a british crowd.Pugilist-specialist wrote:Good post. No one in Britain would take the fight, brook got offered the fight but fair enough he has a world title shot on the horizon bundu is booked up on April 12 th I have been promised a big fight in June maybe earlier in the midlands.. An I would fight khan or brook next if offered an I agree it's time to step up!
Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
That would be a real good fight as well, it would lift the winner right up there.palooka wrote:If Khan has other eggs in his basket would Brook consider a bout v Gavin?Pugilist-specialist wrote:Good post. The thing is that Kell seems to be positioning for a big money fight v Khan without (for me, at least) earning his stripes - I wonder if he would be as eager to take a fight where he had a lot to lose v Frankie (who also hasn't really earned the right to a big fight).

frankie has a personality of a paper bag and dont sell no tickets and will find it hard to get a big fight

You have point there ? Khan is the golden goose for Brook and Gavin, as was Mayweather to Khan, they would be good fights and nothing seems to be happening for all 3 of our guys elsewhere.
Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
I just hope Frank don't become another one of those FW fighters that get's stale fighting nobodies and then has to fight someone top class and then loses. I must say I feel sorry for Gavin so much talent just being wasted.
Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
Hopefully this is just a warm up fight for something a lot bigger in June/July, most likely in Birmingham. Only time will tell .....
Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
Gavin needs big fights to get used to world class talent before fighting for a world title, his best win is either Vassell or Woodhouse ffs.

If you're referring to your next fight, out of interest how much was Brook offered for a fight on the Newcastle undercard?Frankie Gavin wrote:No one in Britain would take the fight, brook got offered the fight but fair enough he has a world title shot on the horizon bundu is booked up on April 12 th I have been promised a big fight in June maybe earlier in the midlands.. How many times have you been promise a big fight mate? Is it 6 or 7 times now?Frankie Gavin wrote:No one in Britain would take the fight, brook got offered the fight but fair enough he has a world title shot on the horizon bundu is booked up on April 12 th I have been promised a big fight in June maybe earlier in the midlands.. Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
He's fought twice in Birmingham, for his debut he sold 1,000, then 750 on the Magnificent 7 show, plus 300 when he fought in Belfast and the Welborn fight last year sold out a month before.mullenman wrote:frankie has a personality of a paper bag and dont sell no tickets and will find it hard to get a big fight
Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
I'm guessing the plan is to fight Ushona in a final eliminator in the summer and because Sacky's WBO #14 he's got the fight to position you for the final eliminator.Frankie Gavin wrote:No one in Britain would take the fight, brook got offered the fight but fair enough he has a world title shot on the horizon bundu is booked up on April 12 th I have been promised a big fight in June maybe earlier in the midlands.. So why claim that Brook was offered the fight?expe wrote:I'm guessing the plan is to fight Ushona in a final eliminator in the summer and because Sacky's WBO #14 he's got the fight to position you for the final eliminator.Frankie Gavin wrote:No one in Britain would take the fight, brook got offered the fight but fair enough he has a world title shot on the horizon bundu is booked up on April 12 th I have been promised a big fight in June maybe earlier in the midlands.. Re: Frankie Gavin V Sacky Shikukutu
Not $5million if Kell was offered that he would deffo take the fight. Khan has more to gain from his fight with Brook then Brook would with Gavin.Pugilist-specialist wrote:If you're referring to your next fight, out of interest how much was Brook offered for a fight on the Newcastle undercard?Frankie Gavin wrote:No one in Britain would take the fight, brook got offered the fight but fair enough he has a world title shot on the horizon bundu is booked up on April 12 th I have been promised a big fight in June maybe earlier in the midlands.. Khan wins he is mandatory for IBF Khan loses then he comesback
Brook wins Gavin same position No1 in UK and mandatory IBF
Brook loses then where does he go from there a comeback?
