Curtis Woodhouse likes fighting. In fact he loves it I think he said on TalkSport on Sunday night (first time I'd heard him, came across great
). I can neither confirm nor deny anything, but I think I know what he's gonna do........
Nah..I think he's got a little voice in his head saying "make a defence Curtis, make a defence!".....but, unless Floyd uses his in one of his polls, I think the footballer-cum-boxer will bow out at the top. I don't think he needs the cash and with a beautiful missus and 3 kids, he really doesn't need to be taking a hiding, and I don't mean that disrespectfully, I mean win or lose.

Woodhouse should be Khan 147lbs warm up for the brook fight, Woodhouse stock is high so a khan fight would sell out the 02 or phones arena. woodhouse would get a million quid out of it. british fans would get a decent fight, its a win win.

Even though Curtis has said he s callin it a day I would like to see him defend it just once
Re: The Curtis Woodhouse 'whats next' thread. .
wouldn't suprised me, diaz had khan hurt, no reason woodhouse isn't capable of stopping him.expe wrote:Imagine if he knocked him outGlass Joe wrote:Woodhouse should fight be Khan 147lbs warm up for the brook fight, Woodhouse stock is high so a khan fight would sell out the 02 or phones arena. woodhouse would get a million quid out of it. british fans would get a decent fight, its a win win.

He's a likely candidate for Strictly Come Dancing...

I'd love to see Curtis try and master another sport. He could become the greatest sportsman ever if he was to achieve another major trophy of some kind.
Curtis you any good at any other sport?

Maybe he wants to keep the belt, it is tempting. Chances are though he has now peaked, that is meaning no disrespect, just that the desire he had the other night due to his reasons I doubt cannot be repeated.
It may be hard to quit, but in hindsight it is mission accomplished, and you go out on top as one of the greatest British underdogs.

whats next? thats the question i keep asking myself, ive had a few really good offers home and abroad on the fighting front and some good offers in the media, my heart is telling me to see how far i can go on the boxing front, im still improving and still fresh, i didnt start till i was 26 so havent got loads of miles on the clock but my head says mission accomplished, get out with my health and leave with people wanting one more, its such a tough decision because im a competitor and want to compete but deep down i know i should walk away, im still on cloud 9 so just need a few weeks to come down and make a decision with a clear mind, its a hard decision so i want to make sure i get it right
Re: The Curtis Woodhouse 'whats next' thread. .
What ever you do your never forget last Saturday ! So I would say fight on and see how far you can get, you said you love fighting, the ride isn't over yet, far from it ! Win lose or draw your going to love it, plus you need one fight where your announced as "British champion" !!!
Re: The Curtis Woodhouse 'whats next' thread. .
Think it would be a hard path to win the Lonsdale belt out right Curtis but would like to see ya make a defence I'd buy a ticket
Re: The Curtis Woodhouse 'whats next' thread. .
don't put too much timber on Curtis cos you might have a defence in 3 or 4 months...curtis wood wrote:whats next? thats the question i keep asking myself, ive had a few really good offers home and abroad on the fighting front and some good offers in the media, my heart is telling me to see how far i can go on the boxing front, im still improving and still fresh, i didnt start till i was 26 so havent got loads of miles on the clock but my head says mission accomplished, get out with my health and leave with people wanting one more, its such a tough decision because im a competitor and want to compete but deep down i know i should walk away, im still on cloud 9 so just need a few weeks to come down and make a decision with a clear mind, its a hard decision so i want to make sure i get it right
You've already got somthing there by the way that 90 odd % of British fighters dream about and will not achieve.
How long do they let you have your moment with the belt Curtis? I remember reading a few years ago that too many of them were going back to the Board with signs of damage, so now they take your photograph with it and then hold on to if for safe-keeping.
I'm sure you'll find an outlet for your competetitiveness that doesn't involve risking injury...maybe get on the charity fundraising scene?? (if you aren't already) Triathlons/ half marathons etc. Could be made for you and you'd raise a fortune I imagine.
Re: The Curtis Woodhouse 'whats next' thread. .
good luck whatever you do, i really think a million purse to fight khan would be logical move for you.. khan needs a warm up fight before brook fight. and you would test khan.curtis wood wrote:whats next? thats the question i keep asking myself, ive had a few really good offers home and abroad on the fighting front and some good offers in the media, my heart is telling me to see how far i can go on the boxing front, im still improving and still fresh, i didnt start till i was 26 so havent got loads of miles on the clock but my head says mission accomplished, get out with my health and leave with people wanting one more, its such a tough decision because im a competitor and want to compete but deep down i know i should walk away, im still on cloud 9 so just need a few weeks to come down and make a decision with a clear mind, its a hard decision so i want to make sure i get it right

Curtis, Stay retired my friend. I really enjoyed Saturday night and to come back and defend it would be all wrong. From a fans point of view I would like to see you fight again but as you have been a great poster on here and an ambassador for the sport we all it may just kill the dream if you came back and lost.
If you leave now with people wanting more then you know you have succeeded.
Well done Curtis.

Cant see that happening but pigs can fly I guess. I dont know how Curtis would be able to get a million pound purse to fight Khan. It's not happening.Glass Joe wrote:good luck whatever you do, i really think a million purse to fight khan would be logical move for you.. khan needs a warm up fight before brook fight. and you would test khan.curtis wood wrote:whats next? thats the question i keep asking myself, ive had a few really good offers home and abroad on the fighting front and some good offers in the media, my heart is telling me to see how far i can go on the boxing front, im still improving and still fresh, i didnt start till i was 26 so havent got loads of miles on the clock but my head says mission accomplished, get out with my health and leave with people wanting one more, its such a tough decision because im a competitor and want to compete but deep down i know i should walk away, im still on cloud 9 so just need a few weeks to come down and make a decision with a clear mind, its a hard decision so i want to make sure i get it right

If you continue and lose so what, you achieved your goal, and you won't always have the what if moments.
Curtis, what would your goals be should you carry on? I assume taking the Lonsadle home, then Commonwealth? Or try and start a Khan war haha

Re: The Curtis Woodhouse 'whats next' thread. .
Curtis Woodhouse did it; he woke up last Sunday morning as British light-welterweight champion.
In the week that Cassius Clay shook up the world against the monstrous Charles "Sonny" Liston, Woodhouse shook up the domestic boxing scene as he outscored Bristol's much-fancied Darren Hamilton to raise the magnificent Lonsdale Belt over his own Yorkshire turf in Hull at the age of 33, after which he affirmed his intention to walk away from the sport. What a legacy, what a feeling, what a night, what a story.
Curtis, a former pro footballer who took up boxing in the autumn of 2006, already knocking on, was hardly treated seriously back then. After all, many, many men from other sports had fancied a go at the hardest game and many, many men had made complete asses of themselves - or worse. Nevertheless, Curtis surrounded himself with good people: F rank Warren, Gary de Roux, the late, great Dean Powell, Dave Coldwell, Ryan Rhodes, Eddie Hearn, Adam Booth, the memory of his wonderful dad... He won far more than he lost but the man is a natural athlete and became a natural fighter the night he held unbeaten former world amateur champion Frankie Gavin to a split decision in Liverpool in 2011, a bruising, bloody 12-rounder he should never have made that close, a bruising, bloody 12-rounder that could have gone his way.
From then on, Woodhouse went into title mode as he won and lost English title fights and tackled the reborn Derry Mathews for the Commonwealth crown. It was experience all the way and then came that man Hamilton, lookin' for a gimmee as he went for a Lonsdale Belt outright in the third defence of his British title. Curtis failed to read the script and by doing so he proved every boxing fan in the country wrong.
They say respect is earned. Curtis has earned true respect.
