Im a sheffield lad and used to be a brook fan - he's lost me now until he steps it up and fights for a world title - he doesnt deserve a fight with khan until he has a go for the title - khan has been there and done it - can u see brook fighting someone like maidana? Career wasted imo - spends too much time in eddie's pocket at ringside

I mean which would progress him further, beating Porter or beating Khan? I know it makes the last year a massive waste of time, but its likely a reasonable argument that he will have bigger fights upon beating Khan than he would Porter.
Second time was a legitimate injury, first time he went to camp too fat and they tried to buy another month to get the weight off. Came back to haunt them when Alexander got injured.

I doubt money will influence Khan to fight Brook TBH - he's a mega millionaire plus his wife's family are even more loaded then him so I heard.

Khan will hang on for Floyd in September for which he will have to fight a somewhat credible US based opponent to get the gig this time - even beating a Malignaggi again would do his cause more good then beating Brook in England unfortunately.

Hearn needs to get a decent name over for Kell...why not a Joesito Lopez, Cano, Randal Bailey or even a super shot Mosley?- all of these guys ironically would be far better opposition then he has faced before which is hilarious.

If Khan doesnt fight Brook for 5million he's simply ducking Kell. Amir Khan likes to give the fans what they want apparently...

^^

Khan cant wait for the Floyd fight in September, Floyd might fight someone at 154?

IMO 50/50 fight this one

Brook has power and skill, though unproven at world level
Khan has speed but stepping up a weight and suspect chin if tagged

Give it a bit of edge and grudge and it will be a cracker

Pretty sure Khan is ducking it though, no way back if he loses

He has fought everyone who was put in front of him. The Alexander saga put him back a year hence the Jone 2 fight then Sevenchenko was a fringe world level fighter to get Kell's confidence back.

Remember if Porter didn't beat Alexander Kell would have already fought for the belt.

Unless politics come into play Kell will fight Porter before the end of June for the title in the shape of his life

There's Zero chance it will happen before June if at all- Brook will have to wait until Porter has had a voluntary and then maybe get the fight after back end of the year

Why... Are those suggested fighters to good for Kell to face? I'm sure Mosley would come over, I wouldn't usually be ok with that fight but as shane insists on continuing why not- he just sent to AUS for money why not come to the Uk

My view is more and more fans have started to have the same thought process as fighters, promoter and managers. All I seem to read about are reasons why this guy shouldn't fight that guy, thus emiminating half the potential match ups out there. Its because of this we don't get to see a whole host of potentially good fights.

That kind of thinking is ok when it comes to someone like Floyd, because he should be held to the highest standard.

Khan and Brook are middle of the road fighters though for different reasons. Khan is a super talent who has chin issues and has had some bad losses and Brook is totally unproven at world level. As far as I'm concerned you can match up either guy with anyone out of the top light welter/welterweights and it makes sense. Floyd and possibly Pacquiao are probably the only two guy's who you would separate from the pack.

If Khan has a better option then by all means take it, but the fact is most of the top guy's have fights arranged now.

Look how impressive khan looked ripping into Peterson & Maidana from the first bell & they are world class even Garcia looked like he was fighting for his life & then you got kell digging deep against a club fighter in Carson jones & shook bad v European level senchenko. Brook really ain't on khans level & needs to start looking over his shoulder because he's slipping back

That's what bugs me. You constantly see posters and fans on here making excuses for the fighters not fighting a certain fighter and talking like they're matchmakers. Baffling.

Is it Hearn really offering this money, or merely him making the offer on behalf of Sky based on projected revenue from PPV ?

I'm guessing it's the latter to be honest.

Maybe people are just been realistic. What's the point of discussing fights that aren't going to happen. It's not a fantasy boxing forum.

The same thing really, any promoter would look at projected revenue from tv and tickets, before making an offer, they do the same with purse bids.

Why exactly are they unrealistic though? I'm at a loss to why that is if that is the case.

Really? You follow boxing closely enough to know the politics stop a lot of fights happening.

I agree with you guvnor- I was more thinking of Mosley or one of those other guys for kells next immediate fight in March or whenever it is as Porter will not entertain him probably until late this year or early next (we know politics can easily ice out Kell even though he's supposed to be mandatory). I would rather see A Mosley as shot as he is then a Lee Purdy fight who I heard a whisper about. Brooks career has been a joke and to be honest I could understand khan being annoyed about some people claiming he has to fight Brook or it's a duck considering he has been fighting at world level in the US for years whilst Kell has been messing about with the Carson Jones' of this world.

So what would be the politics stopping Brook from getting fights with the likes of porter (particularily as he's the mandatory challenger) and the other guys mentioned then? I wasnt aware that there was a boxing cold war going on with Golden boy. I must of missed it

Carried on training after a fight?! Kell Brook? Yeah, right. I am sure he was back in the gum on a Monday after a quiet post fight celebration. And if you believe that ......
The new nutritionist he got in after the Carson Jones fight said he wouldn't safely be able to make weight.
