I agree. I'm getting a bit bored of watching Joshua bowl over fat, six or seven inch shorter bums (has he even been hit yet?), Campbell chase around the ring and wear down nothing opponents and Ogogo do the same. Nothing against those guys per se but it hardly makes for riveting viewing.

I would love to see a Burns v Mitchell re-match.

Mitchell seems to bottle it on the biggest stage though, hes a great fighter just needs to do it when it matters, Hearn is destroying Scottish Boxing, two of our stars behind Ricky have been Simmo and Appleby and hes turning them into journeymen. Fights that realistically they arnt ready for or suited for. That show was a disaster for me and although I think he will milk The Burns wagon till the wheels come right off he isnt looking for a next star and will drop scottish boxing straight away.

Shame on you!! Eddie's the Saviour Of Boxing and he promised us "packed cards from top to bottom". He's been as good as his word too
....he didn't say packed with what so the fact his shows increasingly seem to be packed with mismatches from top to bottom is maybe what those who awarded a televisual promotions monopoly deserve.....

Unfortunately I think you are right. I can see them trying to get john in with Campbell though. Another stepping stone for one of eadies boys.

I don't think he fought any different to how he always fights last night, he just got beat in every department by the better man. Ricky is ok when he is allowed to get away with throwing his own shots and then holding, 1-2 hold, 1-2 hold, this guy didn't allow it to happen so Ricky went into his shell a la Beltran!

I have to admit, Burns head didn't seem right.

the key to losing that fight wasn't that he couldn't get his shots off coming forward. Ricky has had difficulties with slick boxers previously

the big difference for me, is when he was on the back foot, back to the ropes and taking punches. The ricky of old, the ricky that beat martinez and katsidis, would have taken a couple and given 4 or 5 back, he'd throw bunches and get in a scrap. Thats the fighter Billy Nelson created, he was an upright boxer before and Billy turned him into someone who would happily scrap it out and get the win. it was a tactic andf style that won him and kept him 2 world titles and has seen him in 10 world title fights

I never saw that last night, when his back was on the ropes he covered up and I can only imagine that is a mental barrier, he is worried about the jaw.
If you can't beat someone to the punch and can't make up the distance, then you have to react in those situations and get punches off when your opponent voluntarily puts himself in range and I never saw that from him and thats worrying.

perhaps he would have lost that fight anyway, crawford looked a good boxer,
but I fancy that the Ricky that fought Mitchell would have taken crawford in to deeper territory at least.
Last night crawford was comfortable and that something i never thought i'd say about a burns opponent

Burns should have took more chances. Easier said than done when Crawford makes you look like a novice when you miss badly.

It was a pretty lame way to lose your world title when all is said and done, but he just got outclassed by a slickster, something that was always a worry with Burns. He had a great run as one of the lesser champions but ultimately all of us suspected he would come undone one day and he's come undone in his last 3 fights.

I was saying 'just retire' a couple of times last night during the fight, he's lost something and not the fighter he used to be. He was saying he wanted a rematch after the fight but when asked what he would do differently he couldn't even answer. Embarassing moment.

He might have something to offer at Euro level but I really can't see Ricky getting another world title.

I felt or him a bit, It was just the automated response of a proud fighter calling for a return because he looked absolutely clueless at times against Crawford, he had no answers to his movement , speed and variety.

He shoulda stayed with FWarren!

Burns needs to stand tall and box behind a sharp jab, what about those lunging hooks not to mention his footwork. Ricky IMO needs to hang them up or look to another coach.

Well done to Crawford. He wasn't as slick as I expected but he come over here and got the job done. Ricky didn't seem to have the confidence to try and impose himself. Was it his jaw? I'm not convinced. That's 3 fights on the spin now that Ricky has really struggled in.

I was also a little frustrated by the PR job by Eddie Hearn and SKY directly after the fight. Eddie suggested that Ricky has the desire to become world champion again. Really? Where was the desire to keep the belt? Crawford was good but it wasn't a case of outstanding boxing putting Ricky in his shell. SKY also suggested that Ricky clearly deserves to be at this level. Again I don't understand this. 3 fights on the spin now he's not looked like a world champion to me at all. Even at the end the SKY team didn't really break down Rickys performance, or give any critical critique at all. It was all a case of don't worry, Ricky will be back.

I'm looking forward to seeing who Crawford faces next. He seems a fairly nice guy. As for Ricky, it's all went tits up since joining Matchroom really. I think he's had his best years and needs to have a long think about what he really wants to do next.

I agree with what Alex Arthur said last night - why dont they just put him in with some of the top domestic heavy weights now. Battering bums is not going to progress his career in any way at all.

I would also point out Tyson Fury who is our number 1 ranked fighter at HW was facing guys like John McDermott by his 8th fight David Haye fought Carl Thompson in his 10th. Price waited until his 12th fight before facing McDermott. If Joshua has the ability he needs to be pushed and facing guys like McDermott, Larry O, Tom Dallas, now and looking to step up to fight guys in the top 10 within 8 fights if not all thats happening is his record is getting padded out and he will end up getting caught short like price did as soon as he steps up to a half decent level due to lack of meaningful rounds.

Losing to Carl Thompson for Haye and the gifted decision against McDermott that Fury got were arguably the best things that happened in their careers.

I agree with the Joshua comments, all that will happen if he fights many more bums is he will develop bad habits that could catch him out later. The development of him has to continue and not stand still.
