Froch-Groves at Wembley

Must admit I'm not exactly buzzing for this. Lazcano-Hatton was the last footie stadium fight I went to, sat lower tier square on and was still too far to see anything meaningful, just ended up watching the screen.

I've become less interested in going these things 'for the atmosphere', it is more important for me to get a good view and see the fight at least in a half-decent manner. I think I'll be watching this at a house gathering or in a decent bar, just can't be arsed with getting ripped off for a crap view or paying through the nose to get near to ringside.

Not to mention the coked-up drunken lads that will be everywhere for this!

I think as proper boxing fans we want a a good show on the whole and not just one top fight.

This fight is mega and deserves a top undercard. I remember Eddie saying the first fight would'nt be PPV unless the undercard was good. Where as the undercard was dire for that.

Sorry for my negativity, I just hate stadium fights - it's more about the cash than a good view for the fans. Big boxing events should be in arenas imho.

This is the kind of fight which makes me wish we had gotten the big mega-casinos we were promised years ago, but were ultimately vetoed - at least then there'd be plenty to do before and after the fight, and plenty of space for everyone, rather than tens of thousands of people roaming the streets pissed with nothing to do, and no way of getting home.

Hate to be a killjoy, but think I'll give this one a miss.

Couldn't agree more with this, mega-casinos would have been brilliant for this type of event, the UK doesn't really have anything genuinely suitable - we're left with a choice between medium sized indoor arenas or ridiculously big football stadiums.

Nothing against Wembley as a venue, been to a few football matches & usually had a decent view, but it's clearly too big for a boxing match, plus it's basically in the middle of nowhere which is a massive drawback for me.

I'll probably moan about paying the PPV price but then order on the day with a crate of beers, a bottle of whiskey & a vindaloo.

Can't get my head around the need to risk this overnight build on the Friday after the footy when Wembley is a truly awful venue for a fight anyway. What if a storm blows in overnight?! Eddie says Wembley is the only place with a big enough capacity but that's rubbish because there's no way they can sell the highest upper tier seats at Wembley for this, whereas they could've done at somewhere like Cardiff which is also massive but where the stands overhang the pitch. Plus Cardiff has a roof and could be taken over for the whole of fight week!

This is utterly bonkers the more I think about it.

Where's the best place to aim for seats Mick? In the mid price range I mean.

I think you either do ringside or cheap as chips. Mid-range tickets will still be a poor view.

Any recommendations for pubs near Wembley beforehand? Or is it best to drink outside a few stops away - I've only been once with Wimbledon (beat Corinthian Casuals 8-1 a couple of years ago) and we drank in the pub opposite Baker Street.

Agree on tickets, if you wanna actually see the ring gotta be looking at £250 and above easily. If your going just to 'be there' then may as well go with the £30s

The Globe? Everyone ends up using that before England games and getting the tube in, your better off walking roun to Marlybone from there though and getting the train to Wembley.

There are some pubs around Wembley Central (tube station) and dotted about around the ground but obviously they get very full.

I would love to see the fight, but at 250 mile south of me its a no thanks. Thats a 5 hour drive down and 5 back plus hotel fees and grub etc, thats before not being ripped off by the pub prices. The fight wont have a great undercard, who is there is this current climate to make you wanna go? If it was Manc or Nottingham yes would have thought about going. Not going to pay £30 to see eff all and be sat in the cheap seats with the cheap wankers that will be filling those. I would want to spen around £125 but again what would I get?

For 2 of you this nights action is going to cost over £500 and thats being a cheap skate. I think I will actually buy that 50 inch TV for £399 and have a great night at home with my son and some of his mates. All drinking and having a good time. Then when the fight is over a 1 minute walk up to Bedfordshire!

Should be a good night for the fight fan if the stadium is packed but nothing like the Benn days, or Bruno at Wembley v/s McCall. And that magical undercard, where there was at least 4 main events alone worth of talent!

As excited as I am to see the rematch I promised myself I would not go to another stadium fight after I went to Klitschko Vs Haye, because unless you get one of the most expensive seats (costing at least £150) its unlikely that you will be able to see the fight let alone know what is going on

For me it's more about the atmosphere vs having a great view as it would be my first 'big' show ive been too! Is it worth it for the atmosphere? For people who've done it before I mean.

Just looked at the prices for Hotels and I will not be there. I will watch it in the House.

It will be a tense and tactical battle, no way Groves comes out throwing bombs again, look where it got him.
