khan announcement imminent - not broner

Post by freddydoesdallas »

So virgil hunter has stated that amir will not be fighting broner next but 'uk fans will be excited' and should be in 8-10 weeks.

Guessing it won't be brook at that notice. Is it just a case of keeping his name out there?

Khan vs Collazo wouldn't blow my skirt up; ultimately its a case of Khan facing a guy that Hatton beat years ago

Collazo would batter him, stupid fight if he is next in line for Floyd after Maidana.

That's not really going to get casual fans excited here and won't be appealing for ppv or has he signed to allegedly.

Think he needs a fight to win the public over again and this won't do it

He fights in america on the whole anyway so it doesnt really matter if it appeals to fans over here.

Long run it would though. The numbers they think he can generate over here is what's keeping GBP behind him. One fight and they think they can cash in.

Agreed. Collazo is a strong welterweight and I think he would take Khan out, early doors too.

The biggest money fight for him is now Kell Brook.

I'm probably in the minority but I still wouldn't mind seeing him in a rematch against Breidis Prescott. It would be real easy to make and would make decent money too.

Collazo seems to be confirming it on Twitter.

Will this be in the UK or US? Would probably do decent numbers in New York.

Possibly in the UK? Why would Hunter say UK fans will be excited over Collazo? Unless he's deluded, it may be because he's fighting him over here.

All the grief he gave Brook for fighting Senchenko and now he does the same because he had a good win against Ortiz who's head is clearly not in the game after the Mayweather and Lopez fights...

One of the below for me next;

Theophane - Not World Level
Soto-Karass - Been in with great opponents but can dig
Aydin - Light Welter
Collazo - Good Win so maybe him
Guerrero - Be the best of these to fight
Thurman - Dangerous
Bailey - Risky with power but a win
Alexander - Risky also decent match up and world level

I've had some four figure boxing bets in the past but if Khan fights Collazo, a bet on Collazo winning by KO may be my biggest bet yet.

Collazo has just come off a win over Ortiz. It's a bit different to Senchenko.

Ortiz yes been in with good fighters but he wasn't the same fighter who fought Berto.

Is Collazo ahead in terms of World Level than Kell Brook? This is what Khan tweeted his next fight will be a world level fighter.

Shame that, as Broner has been bad mouthing Khan bigtime, would be a good grudge fight. don'y be fooled by Collazo's last fight against Ortiz, Ortiz is a shot fighter now, soon as he gets hurt now, he don't want to know and Collazo is past his best, despite stopping Ortiz and has never been a world beater anyway, Khan would beat Collazo.

If it is Collazo, i can't see it being in this country, especially if it will be 8-10 weeks time as most fans will have paid out a big sum of money to go to the Froch Groves fight. He's not really a ticket seller here either.

Does seem a strange choice when compared with the financial offer he got from Hearn even if he only walked away with half of that purse. I'd be surprised if he made $1m against Collazo let alone £1m

I don't think Khan is fully confident of beating Brook, which is wise, because I think Brook would be too much for him. It's a shame though because it is a fight that would generate a lot of interest and money, and as FrocH -Groves proves, everyone loves a grudge match.

Khan fighting Collazo just doesn't make sense to me. I think he will lose and find himself totally out of the picture

If it aint Brook or Broner then I'd be seriously disappointed. Khan has to keep fighting meaningful fights now, the way he nearly came undone in his last fight shows he probably needs to cash in right now before he loses his box office appeal.

Khan can fight Collazo and lose and the Brook fight will still be there as Kell wants the payday.

I don't mind this as Khan hasn't fought for nearly a year.

However what will really annoy me is Khan winning and calling out Floyd again. Beating Collazo IMO does not make him a worthy opponent for Floyd.

Had he fought and beat Devon in December than he would have earned a fight with Floyd as he would have picked up a World Title at 147.

Still I quite fancy a Collazo KO as Khan will overlook him all he will talk about is Floyd Floyd Floyd in the build up. He was like this before Peterson and even though some thought he won that fight i thought it was his worst performance for a while.

If he beats Collazo there's a very good chance he'll get the Mayweather fight. If he beats Brook, noone in America gives a shit as he has no profile over there and thus it wont mean anything in terms of getting the fight with Floyd.
