If Porter sorts his next fight before April 7th, when negotiations start for the Brook fight, then Kell will have to wait a bit longer for the world title fight, which likely means another keep busy fight in the summer.

Golden boy could possibly push for an extension aswell seeing as Porter only won the title recently.

I imagine Brook is more frustrated with any of us and he needs to concentrate on this next fellow else it's all up in the air.

Judging by the way the IBF mercilessly stripped Jamie McDonnell for not fighting his mandatory in time, I doubt they'll change their stance when it comes to Porter. The only fight GB can offer Porter that will delay the Brook negotiations is a unification bout and that is NOT going to happen.

Porter hasn't left his manager and promoter and struck up with another has he? The IBF won't strip him, the welter division is a prestige division and good money is made for all concerned.

If he sorts a fight before the negotiations for the Brook fight are scheduled to start, as far as I know he'll be allowed the fight regardless of whether it's a unification fight, but after the 7th April only a unification can be arranged. Like it or not, there's a big difference between Jamie McDonnell, with no promoter and Shaun Porter with Golden Boy and there's no deadline currently set, they just have to start negotiations for the fight next month.

Well I have a thought that may happen..... Noticed Mayweather vs Maidana is for the Super WBA Welterweight title making the regular title vacant and I believe Thurman is the interim champion so I can see them pushing for Porter vs Thurman for the IBF & WBA Regular title maybe even on the Floyd undercard.....

Hope not as Kell has had to wait a long time. Think its before the end of June for the Porter vs Brook fight unless they get an extension.

agreed... bank both purses and put them towards Porters purse... main support to Froch/Groves

i get the impression Hearn wont invest in bringing the title over for brook... or brook wont commit to x amount of fights after he wins title

or maybe he (Hearn) doesnt think he can win
That's what happened with Kell and his previous promoter, hence him in marking time fights until the contract was up. I've given that promoter lots of stick on here, so its only fair to say it would be quite interesting to see how Eddie deals with the sort of problems Fwank's had to contend with over the past two years. It's easy to be Britain's top promoter when most of the top fighters come running to you.

Not a good card.
It is dire. If it was any worse, they should move it to the copperbox :OhYes:

So much for Eddie's plan to make more domestic fights this year. Surely there must be some domestic opposition for Bellew, Brook, Mitchell etc ?

Looking at that list of bouts again, it really is an unashamed exercise in getting the Matchroom fighters easy wins. Garbage.

Yeah any card where you can correctly pick every winner is a joke. Just liked the burns cards predicted every winner which really was not hard. The above card is crap. And its adamu v fielding....another horrific fight.

Well he looks a bit like Victor Ortiz, and Victor Ortiz used to be a bit of a name.

I'm not having a dig and any keep busy fight ought to be at welter and both ought to be at the weight.

Dire card this one without the Stephan Smith fight I agree. The only domestic fight out there for Bellew is Cleverly and that isn`t going to happen yet and they are not going to put Brook and Mitchell in domestic fights in keep busy fights I`m afraid it.I think he is trying for the most part with the domestic fights with fights like Buckland-Rees and Crolla-Murray which is a really top domestic clash but this card is his poorest one in a while for sure however it`s touch can go weather allegedlys Liverpool card will be any better

Brook only has Gavin and Khan as good domestic opponents, but Mitchell has about 10 good British potential opponents and he really should have fought at least one of them since his loss to Burns.

Agree,it seems that Hearn only ever intended to have Mitchell in a keep busy fight this time ready for a big one in London in May.Mitchell needs to be in either a big domestic level fight or a genuine world level fight on that card,Argies won`t do

Yep and as we all know in boxing it`s not about what you deserve, it`s about what you can negotiate.

Assuming that Kell wins on Saturday, a world title fight by 19 July seems more likely.
