Since when was Floyd elevated to the status where potential fighters have to prove themselves? The idea that only those who are most worthy and have defeated allcomers are entitled to share a ring with him is largely nonsense.

Marcos Maidana, who has lost to Khan and Alexander, lucked out by showing up Broner for the overrated turd he is, and of course Floyd jumped at the chance of that fight - it's an easy win and Maidana won't make too high a purse demand.

Robert Guerrero "earned" his shot with one worthwhile win at Welterweight, against a fairly limited Andre Berto. The remainder of his best wins were at a stone or more lighter.

It's a similar story with Victor Ortiz.

Floyd selects his opponents based on the best risk/reward ratio (and he's earned the right to do so), but to suggest that his opponents are lined up using some meritocratic basis is a fairy tale.

I thought he beat Hatton myself. This is a stupid fight for Khan a no win risky fight, if he wins no one will care and if he loses, as I expect, he will get laughed at and that would be 2 fights he would have gone backwards. The problem is there is no light puncher in the WW division he can try and outbox.

If he beats Collazo there's a very good chance he'll get the Mayweather fight. If he beats Brook, noone in America gives a poo as he has no profile over there and thus it wont mean anything in terms of getting the fight with Floyd.
I agree there's a chance he'll get Mayweather but his purse for that will be an absolute maximum of US$10m as he's not really bringing anything to the table. If he was to fight and beat Brook, he would be banking a couple of million pound (at least according to the reports), he would win over a bit of the general public here which would increase his value at the negotiating table and he would also put himself in position for a title. If he won that title then there could be a lot of demand from the US networks to get the Mayweather fight made.

Khan could put himself in a strong negotiating position (he'd still make a quarter of Mayweathers purse) if he was prepared to work for it. It's risky but the Brook fight would give him a financial cushion.

I dont think the Floyd fight for Khan is just about money though. It's about going in with the best and trying to beat him. Even though im not keen on Khan personally, he does like to test himself in that sense which I respect. Ps if he beat Brook he'd still be waiting a while before getting his shot at the belt.

Thing is let's be fair, he's been out of the ring nearly a year. If brook had been out that long who would he fight? Certainly not someone of collazo's calibre. Who may not be great but is still a respectable opponent.

I think Frankie Gavin ought to box Carson; he was a breath of fresh air when he came over (twice); it'd give some indication as to where each man (Gavin and Brook) were in relation to each other.

Khan deserves more respect - only his faults are recognised and noticed, he's a very good fighter and may improve his game yet.

Its just opinion but Maidana actually getting in the ring and not sitting around moaning like Khan did got him the fight AKA a career high payday. Marcos was never even spoke about as a Floyd opponent until the Broner win.

Khans last good win was against Zab Judah nearly 3 years ago. The fighters you just mentioned were certainly more deserving of a fight with Floyd (AKA a mega payday) than Khan right now. Ortiz and Guerrero picked up the WBC belt Floyd vacated (or became Champ Emeritus ) not against the greatest opponents I'll agree but certainly better than Molina and Julio Diaz.

Post Garcia all Khan has done is beat two pumped up lightweights and moaned for months about Floyd whilst not fighting. The Alexander fight was perfect mainly to win another belt but for preparation too. Had he landed the Floyd fight May 5 he would have gone almost two years without facing a top level opponent.

I think this inactivity can only have a negative impact on Khan especailly as he should be rebuilding himself under Virgil Hunter. We still won't know what kind of impact Virgil has had on him until he faces a top level opponent.

Believe or not Khan doesn't really care about the money at this point; he just wants the biggest fights. In some way he's to be commended for that.

i disagree, Jones was shot in the fight against brook last time, not the same fighter as the first encounter. he's not fought since either. would be a step back for gavin, well, if thats even possible.

I`ll take collazo to knock khan out in the way Garcia did,i know he`s not a huge puncher but then neither is Garcia tbh,i think khan got beat by a faded diaz and he hasn't fought since then,so I can`t look past a collazo k.o

Big fights as in world titles. Here in the UK it's a big fight but internationally it doesn't mean much. I mean who Brook actually fought? His best win is Carson Jones, a fringe contender at best. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Khan fan and I'd love to see Brook vs Khan. However, I think he's got a fair point in that Brook still needs to prove himself on the world stage.

Those of you constantly calling for Khan-Brook, you are aware, aren't you, that he is under contract to Golden Boy and Showtime, so therefore fight Brook on a Matchroom show would actually be impossible unless he broke his contract.

Yeah, say what you want about Khan and there's a fair amount to dislike but one thing which I think cant be criticised is his willingness to fight the best. There was talk that he wasnt willing to fight Maidana and it seemed for awhile that it was true but he did fight him in the end so I dont think that it's an argument anyway.

I would say that's on both sides to agree a co-promotion, Golden Boy and Matchroom, shown on Sky in the UK and Showtime in the US, with the fight obviously being over here, probably at the MEN or Sheffield Arena.

I would expect there to be a get out clause in the event of a Brook fight, poor planning from his team otherwise. Sheffield Arena is being realistic, neither have sold out recently, Brook hasn't sold out since the Matthew Hatton fight and Khan's credibility has taken a big hit after the defeats to Peterson and Garcia, along with a lackluster performance against Diaz, to go with over a year out of the ring, if it isn't at the Manchester Arena, then Sheffield Arena is the next option because I can't see there being enough demand to take it outdoors.

Is Khan ever going to rematch Breidis Prescott and try to reverse that 54 second humiliation? The notion that Khan is fearless is laughable. He's steered clear of Prescott and didn't even believe in himself enough to battle the competent but middling Devon Alexander.

A lot of posters choking on smoke while walking into mirrors on this thread.

would you want to risk fighting Prescott when you`ve got a possible match with mayweather on the horizon,especially when your chin is constructed of bone china
