My top ten observations re: A new resident Expert
My top ten observations re: A new resident Expert
An entity this prolific COULD be a group of people working together, OR an Edgar Cayce style of "channeling" or an alien hive mentality. so I will be ambiguous and make no assumptions as to the source of the ongoing incoming boundless universe of boxing information that we have been recently blessed with.
I have always been impressed with unabridged knowledge.
I have also felt one must question authority.
So....Here are my top 10 personal stream of consciousness observations.
1. He/She has some opinions that they "prefer" but no overt set of values or belief in manifest historical reality.
2. He/She has been willing to "glide ramp" theirown opinions if they smell a bit of smoke.
3. They will subtly, or not so subtly (depending on just how Sherlock Holmes YOUR thinking happens to be) "direct" their contributions to wherever he/she smells such smoke
(Seemingly in order to see if they can watch a fire of their own making become somewhat dramatic)
4. They will change their own opinion or edit a contribution IF too much attention is drawn to accountability of FACTS....even demonstrating a humble moment now and then
5. They love the "strawman" building a secondary issue, to have impact on the primary goal/opinion. Hoping you won't see the greater body of work. And thus will be drawn into the conclusions they have developed. They are the #1 contributor of "Hyperlinks to Oblivion"
6. They are nothing if not prolific......willing to immerse the reader into what appears to be around a 50/50 mix of fact and fantasy, (or if not fantasy, assumptions constructed from a very personal pretzel logic) They have taken an oath that they do not make stuff up.....so...wouldn't that mean one would have to have access to some VERY personal "fly on the wall" Sport of Boxing moments? (This is My conclusion...hell you tell me if it could possibly have some other meaning). I have asked them if they were somehow associated with the sport...but they not been forthcoming.
7. Every now and then they will go on a "fact run"....where up to 75% of the information will be at least somewhat verifiable even if only made up of a synthesis of quotes/opinions from other sources. They then appear to confabulate the "filler" information. Unless of course...they were there.
8. They do not want to break the actual rules.....they value having a place to "share" (Very tempted to use my first ICON here...you know the smiling one) But I refuse to do so.
9. As far as alternate universe confabulatory contributors go....there is no precedent. This is perhaps the finest example in sport history.
10. They are a jolly good fellow, which NOBODY can deny.
Buyer Beware!

Have you considered using a FBI profiler?

I'm glad the Duce exists.
Now if only Granberry would return, my BoxRec experience would be complete.
Re: My top ten observations re: A new resident Expert
Duce, Granberry and Collins200 Oh My...
Re: My top ten observations re: A new resident Expert
I miss Collins, he always seemed like a good guy to me when ever I spoke with him.
Has any one here heard from him?

He has morphed into a new personna, but still puts in appearances, I believe.Robinson wrote:I miss Collins, he always seemed like a good guy to me when ever I spoke with him.

Another one I wish was still around was Irene, but I think Buzz ran him.

Is it true that Buzz drives a pink caddy like his hero?
Re: My top ten observations re: A new resident Expert
For the record....
It was not I that said Goodnight to Irene.....though it was inevitable due to his unwillingness or inability to read, understand and follow our simple common sense rules.
There is always safe harbor here for those who remain calm and observe a civil lifelstye.
Think that Ali's Pink Cadillac was inspired by Elvis? Yancey what did Joe drive? Had to be something that was burnin' a great deal of oil......even if it required a mechanic to set it to "ultra rich".

I think Joe was a motorcycle guy, at least in his younger days. He was in South Carolina when he heard Yank had a stroke and sped back to Philly in very fast time on his bike.BoxBuzz wrote:For the record....

Later on in life, a good pickup truck would have seemed natural for Joe.
I do know Smoke wouldn't hesitate to crawl under a car engine to fix things. Can't quite see Ali doing that.
As far as Irene goes, I'm sure you were fair with him. When he left here, I think he headed on over to ESB, but didn't stay long.
He seemed like a good sort in the few PMs I had with him. Hope things are going alright with him.
Re: My top ten observations re: A new resident Expert
With Joe's eyesight....we are lucky he didn't have a motorcycle moment. Laid my 82 Harley Sturgis down one time.....and though I barely scratched it....I bid it farewell. My eyesight is abysmal....why I got into them in my lifetime I don't know...but I was bulletproof back then. Glad I figured it out, before they wrote my last chapter.
