Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
Who would like to see a re-match and who do you think would win?
Mitchell has had his problems in the past but if they fought again I'd favour him to beat Burns on points.

Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
Wouldn't like to see it. Burns by stoppage again.
Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
I'd rather see Burns vs Murray or Rees.
There should be no rematch.

Murray maybe Rees no. Mitchell would be better. It just might happen sooner than people thinkHorse wrote:I'd rather see Burns vs Murray or Rees.

Murray would break Ricky s heart
Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
He's already destroyed Mitchell and it was less than 18 months ago as well.jessi wrote:Murray maybe Rees no. Mitchell would be better. It just might happen sooner than people think
What is the point of a rematch?

Would probably be a final eliminator for the IBF belt and the quickest route back to a world title.Horse wrote:He's already destroyed Mitchell and it was less than 18 months ago as well.jessi wrote:Murray maybe Rees no. Mitchell would be better. It just might happen sooner than people think

Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
Burns vs murray would be one i'd like to see, but murray needs to get some top opposition and build up after his lay off.
Crolla vs murray, as mentioned by both yesterday, would be a good match, i'd happily see the winner of that fight burns.
Mitchel got KO'd, so in terms of deserving it, i can't make a case but I think it would be a lot tighter as mitchel has improved lately and burns has definately lost something since they last fought. I'd still back burns on points.
Rees doesnt want to be stepping up his level of opposition just now, does he?
What about terry Flanagan, I havent seen him since prizefighter, but matthews and sykes were good scalps and he's picked up a few wins since then. Should he be in the mix With the names above?

How do yo know that Mitchell has improved lately? He's been fighting nobodies.davie wrote:Mitchel got KO'd, so in terms of deserving it, i can't make a case but I think it would be a lot tighter as mitchel has improved lately and burns has definately lost something since they last fought. Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
He is too chinny to mix it at the upper levels. Twice he stepped into fringe world class/world class and got smashed both times.Ian1973 wrote:Who would like to see a re-match and who do you think would win?

The 'I reckon Kevin Mitchell would win a world title/beat fighter x' thing crops up on here now and then.
Good fighter but unfortunately falls short at the higher level.
Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
i would heavily favour Burns against Murray , Murray wouldnt be able to just walk Burns Down
Burns would be jabbing his head off and be able to Land to the body also

Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
Perhaps "improved" wasn't the right term, but he has been performing well, back on a winning run and making a lot of good noises about his commitment which has perhaps been questionable in the past.Horse wrote:How do yo know that Mitchell has improved lately? But i think it maybe also unfair to say he's been fighting nobodies. He 's fought a couple of decent level fights since losing to Burns, not world beaters by any stretch, but hardly mugs. And he's been looking pretty good.
Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
I'm not sure if chinny is correct. He took bigger wallops from the heavier punching Murray & came through ok. He does (or has so far) fallen well short in World title shots but I wouldn't say he is chinny - although if you watched a highlight reel of the Katsidis & Burns fights you'd be hard pushed not to think that way.lillywhite14 wrote:He is too chinny to mix it at the upper levels. But he's come through fine against other big punchers who have dropped supposedly better fighters than him.
Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
That's typical of Kevin Mitchell though, right the way up to European level he looks fantastic, but when he steps up to world level he goes to pieces.davie wrote:Perhaps "improved" wasn't the right term, but he has been performing well, back on a winning run and making a lot of good noises about his commitment which has perhaps been questionable in the past.Horse wrote:How do yo know that Mitchell has improved lately? Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
Murrays too predictable and has no head movement, I'd favour Burns to box his head off not getting involved. Mitchell, well, I think we all WANT Kevin to be better than he actually is.
But typical fickle boxing fans, Burns loses 1 fight vs a future p4per and now he can even cut it at domestic level (vs some1 he's already KO'd in 4 rounds).

Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
I've never wanted Mitchell to be better than he is, I couldn't care less, and I don't think Crawford is a future P4per, I think he looked decent, but that's about it.stevieb_8006 wrote:Murrays too predictable and has no head movement, I'd favour Burns to box his head off not getting involved. Don't talk shit mate Burns is levels above Murraytear up wrote:Murray would break Ricky s heart
Don't think coz he got beat by a top fighter that Ricky's finished absolute pish.
Simpson hit John with many clean punches and at the time my thoughts were fornicate if that was a top LW Murray would be in big bother

Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
I dont see the point of this fight for either man. Mitchell would likely lose again and on top of that Burns is coming off a loss *albeit to a very good fighter* and thus there wouldnt be much to gain from it and on the flipside Burns has already knocked Mitchell out. I doubt he'd do it any quicker than 4 rounds either.
Re: Burns vs Mitchell re-match?
I think burns would still have Mitchell's card, just cause he was comprehensively beaten by a good fighter in Crawford dosent mean he is out .
A couple of fights and wins and he could be back in the mix. would prefer to see him in with Murray or Crolla ,ahead of Mitchell .
