I can only agree. I have no idea who the price is aimed at. I would understand if it was aimed at sports bars and pubs wanting to show the fight without having to take a B0xnati0n subscription. Bars and pubs have to take a 3 month contract for B0xnati0n at £89.00 per month, at least that's how much it was a few months back. However with the fight being on in the small hours of the morning, I can't see many bars ordering the fight.

For a pub to have SKY sports it costs a fortune - 100's of £'s.

It is a high PPV price, I can't imagine many takers.

You think they'd offer it at ten or twenty quid a month to pubs and bars for the first 2-3 years, to help establish the channel and get people watching it. Sky charge an astronomical price, they should have nipped in and offered live boxing for virtually sod all for a while.

There must be some sort of cunning plan in this, surely, why would anyone pay £27.50 to watch Garcia-Herrera when they could pay £10, plus the £10 registration fee and get a month's worth, for £7.50 less.

Very odd, like you say a tenner one off access to a big fight is ok but hardly anyone would cough up separately for Garcia let alone that crazy price.

A few things have happened over the past couple of months inline with B0xnati0ns plans to grow. 12 months ago Fr&nk allegedly confirmed in an interview they planned to launch a HD channel along with the capability to offer PPV to those who don't subscribe. The third thing on the agenda was international expansion for the channel. This was reiterated in the recent AIM investors document published ahead of the Media Nation IPO. Prior to Christmas it was reported the channel had been testing in China and the B0xnati0n website currently states: "Outside the United Kingdom, the channel is available to customers in the Republic of Ireland through the Sky platform. We are looking to launch in other countries but are unable to commit to anything at this moment."

I have a feeling this weekends PPV could be a test run to see if their new PPV system works. It's long been suggested both Golden Boy and Top Rank have wanted to introduce their big shows to Europe on a PPV basis. Both have tried Primetime here in the UK with limited success. I think B0xnati0n might be taking their first steps in becoming the home of PPV boxing on a European level. Sounds far fetched I know however details published in the AIM investors document mentioned above does suggest some of the funds raised from the Media Nation IPO will be used for international expansion of the brand.

I guess it's a fairly unsubtle ploy to make the subscription seem appealing and get a few more people tied into the channel for at least a short while.

You'd have to be mental to pay £27.50 purely for Garcia v Herrera - I can't envisage a single person taking them up on that.

There's currently no minimum term. Seems to be a few strange things happening on their website. The SKY subscription section has the monthly cost listed as £10.01 per month and registration £10.01 too.

I can't see anyone paying £27.50 this weekend either. What I do see however is lots of people having problems recording the show in HD. Noticed on Twitter the following conversation:

To B0xnati0n: "when I tried Sky plus'ing Garcia it prompts me for payment like its ppv..what is the problem?"

B0xnati0n reply: "This is the new way to record ch.490. You need to "buy" it for £0.00 in order to record the fight following on screen instructions"

It just doesn't sound like good advice, or the right advice too me at all.

Anyone who pays £27.50 to watch Garcia V Herrera must be off their nut. I don't think 1 person will buy it and would possibly put off future subscribers thinking, 'Pricey that BN channel, I'll leave that alone...'

Thanks for that. Live testing is obviously a good idea and with the price-tag likely to dissuade most the system won't get hammered.

If the American promoters do go with BN as their PPV platform, I wonder how they will price events?
