Four Scottish boxers in line for British title fights

Post by adam426 »

Link to a story there about the four Scottish boxers who are getting ready for British title shots. Scotland doesn't have any British champs currently so who is most likely to win one?

Butcher has the best chance as he arguably beat satchell last year.

Limond has a chance against woodhouse but I think he gets beat on a close but clear decision.

Cornish gets beat by any decent heavyweight he fights as he is not that great. Joshua beats him in a couple of rounds.

Kris cars law doesn't have much of a chance of getting past Selkirk let alone a title shot.

It's actually funny how these are mostly Gilmour fighters. I think out of all his fighters / Paul Grahams fighters the best chance of a British Champion from Scotland is either Ian Butcher or Ronnie Clark.. Seems to me that Tommy wants to push other fighters ahead of Ronnie!!

Selkirk beats Carslaw with ease, if he turns up properly focused and up for it he could probably stop him.

Curtis and Limond is a 50-50 for me, but Limond's been very inactive and he's never really beaten anyone I would consider to be a title level fighter, with Curtis at home, I'd take him on points.

If Cornish fights Joshua, Hughie Fury, McDermott or Lewison he's getting stopped and I can't see any other ways to the British title.

Butcher has the best chance, I thought he nicked the first fight with Satchell and a rematch is another that could go either way, but if I had to go out on a limb and pick a winner, I'd take Satchell in another close one at home.

Or maybe other fighters are closer to title fights in divisions that aren't as competitive as super featherweight.

Disagree completely. Ronnie will fight a eliminator soon enough and will fight for the British Within 2 fights.. Difference is only 2 that have a chance will be Butcher and Clark

Just a thought if Scotland were to become Independant would a Scottish British Champ be stripped ?

I think Limond would have a huge chance against woodhall, he has good experience and could take this one. Good fight for both!

Butcher easily with the best chance of them all and arguably the best fly in Britain.

Limond-Woodhouse is a pick em fight I'd lean towards Curtis to win a close fight.

Carslaw and Cornish will do very well to win a title of any kind.

think you dont live in the real world man. ronnie has been injured and already has a fight with kays if and thats a big IF he wins then you should worry about ronnie being in the papers about british title.
willie limond will fight curtis woodhouse 100% so that is news, kris carslaw has had his eliminator sorted for a date. gary cornish we can agree is going nowhere. out of the 3 gilmour fighters ronnie deserves to be in front of 1 cornish.
my opinion is that ronnie will get badly exposed when he fights a good boxer because he still looks raw and caught between being a boxer and kickboxer but i dont think hes the best in scotland and would see john simpson, mick roberts, david savage and ryan collins all give him problems and beat him with simpson likely to stop him.
im sure he will get pushed when he deserves it not because he thinks he deserves to be pushed but right now man he needs to practice boxing lol

Haha but I need to live in the real world.. You really don't have a clue mate.. I'm not going to disrespect the other 3 as I like them especially Ryan Collins who spars Ronnie a lot but none of them are anywhere near ready to share a ring with Ronnie and I'm sure really they would all admit it. Dave Savage is a great boxer but just too small and doesn't hit hard enough.. Roberts and Collins need more experience. I'm sure Morrison and their trainers would say that himself. As for Simpson he has shown time and time again he can't take the shots for bigger hitters. Ronnie is bigger and stronger than John. John will fight anyone but Ronnie is all wrong for John. I hope this fight happens we see this as a great 50/50 fight where John would be favourite but we will see what would happen

Ronnie has never actually shown how he can fight as he's always had to dictate fights, he beat Ryan Walsh fighting an opposite fight as Ryan Walsh a counter puncher. Maxi Hughes also . Ronnie is most effective when in pressure. Only John Simpson from that list would be ready for ronnie IMO, could be wrong but hey. Mick Roberts is a nice boxer but I'm sorry ronnie walks through it. If he was getting caught by shots by feket then it wouldn't be pretty, Morrison would agree if he was being honest. Well soon see anyways as if the 4 can beat him the. Be no problem mKing the fights.

So he is being pushed towards a title then, but Butcher and Limond are mandatory, Carslaw has been hand picked to fight Selkirk by Warren and the British Heavyweight title is vacant and no one looks like fighting for it soon, so Gilmour is trying to get the fight for Cornish, not because he wants to push other fighters ahead of Clark. He won't fight for the British in 2 fights either, if he's still fighting next month then that's one, an eliminator would be the second, final eliminator a 3rd fight, then the British title fight, if he gets the eliminator which we should find out later today in the board circular.

You will find out something interesting in the board circular today. This won't be about Ronnie though.. That title I'm sure will be vacant again after the next fight so no need for a eliminator will find put later today

But they didn't beat him either!!

Ronnie's time will come and he will have to be ready to grab it with both hands, if he was to pick up the British title then I could see some good fights for Scotland against Mick Roberts and John Simpson. All of the fighters would be much more likely to want these fights with the Lonsdale belt on the line!!

I'd like to see Curtis vs Willie and think that if Willie is injury free and still has the hunger he could outbox Curtis. But if Curtis could impose his style then he could win!! genuine 50/50 fight I would like to see

Kris is a decent boxer but he sometimes looks a bit small for Lt Middle, I would like to see him get down but only he knows if it's possible. Avery hard fight for him against Selkirk, but to me sometimes Selkirk looks good and other times he looks ordinary.

Iain Butcher would beat Satchell if the rematch happens imo, I wasn't impressed with Satchell on Saturday and think he maybe needs to move up in weight?

With Gary it will all depend what fight gets made for him, we haven't seen him in any trouble in his career but he needs a step up in opposition next time to help him get ready for a British title shot. I couldn't predict anything until something more concrete was announced.

Did best Walsh, wasn't given decision . I don't care what they do but how can people sit and say people beat him when they are not willing to fight him , likes Ryan Collins but he's fight him no problem. Any of them wanted it then they can prove it.

Didn't beat Walsh, 95 and 95 are both the same number, neither is bigger than the other, so it was a draw.

Only the Scottish thought it was controversial... Many thought Ronnie was lucky.
