Wilder ?
I also think Frankie Gavin could win a world title tomorrow if you asked him to fight for it such is his natural ability.
Degale to beat Bika if gets the shot
Brook i would pick to beat Porter but more of a 50/50 fight
Frampton could challenge Santa Cruz or Quigg
Murray i would pick to beat Sturm
Mcdonell should still be IBF champ and id pick him against hall again or pretty much anyone on his day.
Selby id give him a chance against Vetyeka but Donaire has got there first, maybe Gonzalez for WBC belt as the mares fight is postponed again
Gavin i think technically could beat most welters on his day bar mayweather and a few others

Re: New world champions this year
19 July deadline - winner of Porter and Malinaggi must face Brook.
Re: New world champions this year
Brook can beat Porter but I think Malignaggi has a very good chance against Porter.
Jamie Mc Donnell will be a World Champ again this year.
Matthew Macklin if he gets the Sturm fight

I don't think Jamie will win it again and I'm pretty sure Macklin won't.brian13 wrote:Brook can beat Porter but I think Malignaggi has a very good chance against Porter.

I see Porter as the type of guy Brook would hate to fight. Energetic, solid power, rough, tough and strong. He's perhaps not stylistically similar to Carson Jones but they share a number of similarities and if Brook struggled with Jones I see Porter doing a number on him

Brook would beat Porter if Porter gets rid of Maglinaggi
Frampton - Santa Cruz or Kiko - I don't see a fight happening with Quigg until both have a world strap.
Murray - I'd back to beat Sturm or Quillin
Jamie Mcdonell to beat Hall for the IBF champ
Not sure how good Selby could be hence the question mark
Re: New world champions this year
You could say all of the same things about Kell Brook as well, Porter didn't exactly have the greatest night against Diaz first time round. I actually think this is an easier fight than Devon Alexander, Alexander's not a big puncher, but he's slick and moves well, there's not a lot to counter and he can be difficult to catch clean, Porter is much easier to hit and pin down, he doesn't move around as much as Alexander, which suits Kell because he can get a bit flat footed at times.Boxing Prospect wrote:I see Porter as the type of guy Brook would hate to fight. Whilst it's true Porter did struggle with Diaz many had Diaz beating Khan...who many favour clearly over Brook. Styles make fights but still it's a comparison worth noting.expe wrote:You could say all of the same things about Kell Brook as well, Porter didn't exactly have the greatest night against Diaz first time round. And lets not ignore the second fight.
True Alexander isn't a big puncher...but is Brook? Really?
Like you said, Alexander is slick, is that not Brook's selling point?
Re: New world champions this year
Wouldn't say Brook's slick, not in the usual way, he counter punches well, but he does it on the front foot, holds his feet more often and he's more compact defensively than slick fighters are. There aren't really any British fighters I would call slicksters, the closest we have are Frankie Gavin, Billy Joe Saunders and Lee Selby. He's not a one punch knockout merchant, but he hits a lot harder than Alexander, who's a bit featherfisted to be honest, if he hits you clean, you're gonna know about it. Diaz ran Khan close, but I think that says more about Khan, Brook would knock him out, he can't go the full 12 rounds without taking a few clean on the chin. Can't ignore the second fight between Porter and Diaz, but Brook fought Jones again and beat him up in much more impressive fashion than Porter did against Diaz, so while he struggled first time round, at the second attempt he had no problems at all with Jones.Boxing Prospect wrote:Whilst it's true Porter did struggle with Diaz many had Diaz beating Khan...who many favour clearly over Brook. Impossible to say how hard Brook really hits, lets be honest his best KO is over Sencheko who wobbled him prior to being stopped. Plenty will disagree on Brook being favoured over Khan which again suggest that Porter is easly, at worst, a 50-50 fight.expe wrote: Wouldn't say Brook's slick, not in the usual way, he counter punches well, but he does it on the front foot, holds his feet more often and he's more compact defensively than slick fighters are. Brook did indeed beat Jones a second time though he did fight significantly above the Welterweight limit. The 4 or 5 lbs difference can make a hell of a lot of difference.
I think Brooks biggest problem is that he doesn't believe he's world class and that's why he gets these "injuries" so regularly.
Re: New world champions this year
Jones himself has fought as high as middleweight and fought for titles at light middle, I don't think the extra weight made much difference to the outcome. Senchenko hurt him, but that doesn't really say anything about Kell Brook's punch power, although it does pull up a few questions about his chin and going from wobbling to being able to plant your feet and keep your balance to flatten your opponent does suggest he can whack a bit.Boxing Prospect wrote:Impossible to say how hard Brook really hits, lets be honest his best KO is over Sencheko who wobbled him prior to being stopped. True he has fought at Middleweight where he holds an "excellent" record of 8-0-1-2...against fighters that most Light Welterweights would have gone 11-0 against.expe wrote:Jones himself has fought as high as middleweight and fought for titles at light middle, I don't think the extra weight made much difference to the outcome. The Light Middleweight title bout you spoke of was against Jason LeHoullier, who is pretty much a journeyman right now. LeHoullier had been stopped in...170 seconds by JCC Jr inhis previous fight and was 0-2-1 in previous 3?
We're so unsure of what Brook brings to the table that it's a giant "?" on power, durability, skills etc. Anyone can look good against over-matched foes.

Brook was getting by far his biggest purse for that fight and was buying a new house with his partner and baby with it. You think he faked a broken foot, then trained in a swimming pool for ages just to get out of the fight he'd dreamed of for nearly 20 years?Boxing Prospect wrote:

Although I do wonder if when he reaches the top level he'll get found out. I always have severe reservations about a fighter who is 31-0 and hasn't really fought anyone in the top ten. Both of his promoters have been very careful as to how they match him. Perhaps they know something we don't?
