Anybody with half an idea knows that the reason why the British Asian community doesn't have too many top sportsmen (other than cricketers) is because of the prioritisation of education and business ahead of aspirirations of careers in professional sport. I'd personally like to see that shift slightly because there are a growing number of young Asian lads in my area who, like everybody else, don't have a lot of prospects. It would be good if they could see more role models from their community in the sporting arena, aswell as the areas I mentioned earlier, to open up another avenue of approach.

I used to live with a Japanese girl and she taught me, after being horrified by catching me trying to cook rice in the microwave.

Basically, put roughly twice as much water in a pan as rice (and some salt) bring it the boil with the lid on. Once it's boiling, turn it down to simmer but LEAVE THE LID ON. Leave it til there's no water left. It makes a sort of popping noise. If it starts to burn on the bottom you've overdone it. Easy.
