Is the Copperbox event on 12th April off?
Does anyone know if the show is still happening? The 2 main fights listed for the show ain't happening.
allegedly is now unable to promote the English title contest between Big Bad John McDermott and Brixton’s Iain Lewison, which was scheduled for April 12 at the Copper Box Arena. This has now been put out to purse bids, to be received by April 9. The main event has also been scuppered. Liam Walsh, who was supposed to face Gary Sykes, is injured and has vacated the super featherweight title vacant. Both Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora where also to feature on the bill but that doesn't seem to be happening either.
Kalle Sauerland confirmed earlier today that their Danish card on the 12th April will be live on B0xnati0n.

As someone who's previously put the boot in on the way these Copperbox shows fall apart at the seams, I would point out that Fwank has got the boxers at his disposal to put on a stonker of a domestic show in April or May.
I know he's about to rake in a small fortune from the new PPV arm of his tv channel but he still needs to keep promoting !

Re: Is the Copperbox event on 12th April off?
After reading the Eubank was fighting Kerry Hope on April 12th I had a look at the boxrec schedule.
and found the below.
Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick, London, United Kingdom
super bantamweight Lewis Pettitt SC TBA 12x3
welterweight Bradley Skeete SC TBA 12x3
super middleweight Frank Buglioni SC Sergey Khomitsky 10x3
super featherweight Mitchell Smith SC Peter Cope 10x3
middleweight Chris Eubank Jr SC Kerry Hope
heavyweight Ian Lewison SC Eddie Chambers
heavyweight Hughie Fury SC Danny Hughes
cruiserweight Tony Conquest SC Carl Dilks
Never seen Lewison fight but him v Chambers should be half decent.
I was really hoping BJS would fight for the European Title as headliner on this show.
I may pay attention to Buglioni against Khomitsky he is who Martin Murray fought last time out.

Whoa massive step up for Lewison if the fight comes off. Eubank vs Hope is a good fight and big step up for Eubank, whilst Hughes will come to have a go at Fury.
Pretty decent card in all fairness if it comes off. Big if mind.

Some very good fights potentially. Line up has been released later than usual. I assume this is in an attempt to ensure fewer fights fall through. Wise move if it comes off.

Lewinson vs Chambers is a strange fight to make.
If chambers has anything in the tank he should walk it, would be on e of the biggest shocks i could recall if he were to lose.
How much did the drop to cruiser take out of him though?

This card is too small for the copperbox, ally pally or globe etc would of been better, maybe frank gets a a nice discount

Isn't he contractually obliged to have a certain amount of shows there?Glass Joe wrote:This card is too small for the copperbox, ally pally or globe etc would of been better, maybe frank gets a a nice discount
Re: Is the Copperbox event on 12th April off?
6 show deal from last September, this is the 4th. Another one in June, probably headlined by Saunders European title fight, then another in September will take him to the end of the deal. Buglioni and Kean do a couple of thousand between them so Ally Pally would potentially be a bit small depending on how many the other fighters sell.ILikeBeer wrote:Isn't he contractually obliged to have a certain amount of shows there?Glass Joe wrote:This card is too small for the copperbox, ally pally or globe etc would of been better, maybe frank gets a a nice discount
The card currently stands at:
Bradley Skeete 15(4)-0 Vs Tobia Giuseppa Loriga 27(6)-3(2)-2
12x3 WBA Inter-Continental Welterweight Title
Tony Conquest 13(5)-1(1) Vs Carl Dilks 18(5)-6(3)
12x3 Commonwealth Cruiserweight Title
Lewis Pettitt 13(4)-1(1) Vs TBA
12x3 Vacant WBA International Super Bantamweight Title
Frank Buglioni 12(9)-0 Vs Sergey Khomitsky 28(11)-10(2)-2
10x3 WBO European Super Middleweight Title
Mitchell Smith 8(4)-0 Vs Peter Cope 9-0
10x3 Vacant English Super Featherweight Title
Gary Corcoran 8(4)-0 Vs Robert Dixon 10-0
8x3
Tom Baker 7(1)-0 Vs Jamie Ambler 10(3)-55(6)-2
6x3
Georgie Kean 3(1)-0 Vs William Warburton 10(2)-59(2)-3
4x3
Simon Barclay Vs Will Burkin 0-3-1
4x3
Chris Eubank Jr 13(8)-0 Vs Kerry Hope 20(1)-6(4)
12x3
Ian Lewison 8(5)-2-1 Vs Eddie Chambers 36(18)-4(1)
8x3
Hughie Fury 13(8)-0 Vs Danny Hughes 12(3)-2-2
6x3
No lengths listed for the last three, I'd assume Hughie's fight will be 8 rounds because that's how long it was scheduled for on Saturday and that they're trying to sort some form of International title for Eubank Jr-Hope and Lewison-Chambers.
Edit: Hughie is fighting over 6 rounds, Lewison-Chambers is an 8 rounder and Eubank Jr-Hope is over 12.
With 25 days to go, that's the card currently, wonder how it will compare to what we get on the night...

Re: Is the Copperbox event on 12th April off?
That's a big card and with the best will in the world, Bradley Skeete seems to be a really decent fellow who trains hard and has skills - I find it hard to watch his bouts; I wish he could move up a couple of gears or really put it on em; I get a bit bored watching.
Re: Is the Copperbox event on 12th April off?
This is going beyond midnight again isn't it!
Re: Is the Copperbox event on 12th April off?
It's an odd card in that there isn't an obvious headliner, however, as it stands, there are alot of decent match ups that I'd be interested in seeing.
Can't see Skeete transforming into a headline act but good luck to the guy, I hope he does well

He doesn't seem to have any urgency to his work, and his boxing ability is nowhere near the level he or the punditry team seem to suggest it is.fizzjambo wrote:It's an odd card in that there isn't an obvious headliner, however, as it stands, there are alot of decent match ups that I'd be interested in seeing.
