Ali's version of Thrilla and Manilla vs. excellent light heavyweight boxer who just jumped in a heavyweight division for one fight and won but still had to be very careful with rather average heavyweight boxer's punches

Do I get it right?

Even in your imagination Jones wouldn't take this fight.

Roy Jones.

1975 Muhammad Ali was 'too slow'and could not chase anybody to win. He had to let them come to him.

Roy would use the smart 'Slip-and-Slide' routine, and embarrass Muhammad into swinging with power shots which
wouldn't work.

Computer has Roy Jones winning 6-4-2 in Rounds............. :TU:

I can picture Roy of 2003 beating Ali of 2003.

Yes yes yes....a computer DID indicated this outcome. The question remains is "What Computer"?.....and as always with any Il Duce contribution...the DEVIL is in the details.

Here is the computer that managed to come up with the "Il Duce solution".

Muhammad Ali had trouble with quick small guys, especially later in his career.

I could just see it now, Muhammad 'Flopping around the Ring' trying to chase a 'Speedster'.

In 1975 > Muhammad was 'slow' against Chuck Wepner, Ron Lyle, Joe Bugner and Joe Frazier.

Give me Rudi Lubbers telephone number.
The most proper guy if we talk about 'size' is Leon Spinks.

But still he was more heavyweight boxer than Roy (5 cm higher, 5 cm more reach of hands; 2 kg heavier comparing Spink's version in 1978 to Roy's version in 2003 and 90+ kg was normal weight for Spinks and Roy have never been such heavy).

And still it was Ali's version in 1978, not 1975.

And still he managed to win re-match.

Roy was genius but he wasn't heavyweight and 2003 was practically the end of his career.

Ali would catch and KO Jones somewhere around the 8th or 9th round.

My initial quote was catch and KO Jones in the 8th or 9th round. Not just catch him.

I think Jones could have fared relatively well against several heavyweight champions, but I believe Ali is a bad match up for him. He would control distance, have enough speed to catch Jones and obviously have the power to hurt him. I don't know that I'd say he stops Jones, but I think he may drop him at some point and control the fight pretty well. I believe Jones might take a few rounds, but lose a clear decision.

Jones beat John Ruiz.... a contender for one of the worst ever HW champions.
If jones would have fought the recognised champ at the time, Lennox would have squashed him

Ali was fading in 1975... but he wasn't yet the shell of a fighter who lost to Leon Spinks, so I would favour a 220lb 33 year old Ali over a 193lb 33 year old Jones.
Jones employed hit and run tactics agaisnt Ruiz.... but even the 1975 version of Ali is far superior boxer to Ruiz.

I'd expect Roy's speed of hand and foot to cause him some problems (Bob Foster out-jabbed Ali at times) but this is Ali (even the '75 vintage), not Ruiz, and Ali eventually crushed Foster.

This is a total mis match. People forget the Ali had power and Jones was really a middle. Ali KO around 6/7.

Duce.....it's a damn shame, and a cyrin' shame, and a sad state of affairs, when someone who has acquired extensive knowledge....elects to exploit such acquisitions by compromising a well studied knowledge base with a clear, well demonstrated, and chronic passion to weave his opinions, politics and passions into a "generous sharing" of DISinformation.

In the end it's baloney even if at it's base it has 100% prime corn fed Angus.

In my humble opinion, You are the greatest disappointment in the history of this forum.

Well....maybe second, next to Charlie Zellenoff who was on his way to assured Boxing stardom, when his flat refusal to familiarize himself with the basic fundamentals of boxing led to his dismal series of failures and defeats at the hands of a few poorly schooled boxing students.

Duce...would you know who I might be referring to?

Cuz someone round these parts MUST fit this description....otherwise a fair minded, modest fella with high moral fiber and purposeful honest intentions....(such as myself for example) would never insinuate otherwise.
