Take, say Roberto Duran, and put him in the middle of the street..( dead end street with no traffic )..He has on, in his prime, sneakers, regular casual slacks on, no jewelry, and no gloves, handraps, mouthpiece, etc,, etc, just dressed normally, as to go out to the mall. 20 feet away, in HIS prime, dressed identically, is Chuck Norris. there are NO rules, just a fight..you can spit..headbutt...kick anyplace, choke, wrestle, box, judo, karate.. NO rules...Who SHOULD win???
Just a twist of a discussion, but an interesting thought.

as much of a Chuck Norris fan that I am,what takes place is not even considered competitive.Duran by violent K.O.,anywhere anytime,against just about anyone in this scenario.He was a bad motor-scooter,

Prime Norris was alot bigger and stronger than Prime Duran. Chuck would take this.

chuck norris has a glass jaw, i saw this migdet chinese man nearly knock him out in walker texas ranger.

As much as I love Duran...this wouldn't even be a contest.

Norris has the height and weight advantage on Duran, he is a black belt in both Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwan Do, and was the World Middleweight Karate Champion from 1968 to 1974 when he retired. Norris was named Fighter of the Year by "Black Belt" magazine in 1969.

Of course, later in life, Norris became a movie and television star, which in turn made his actual fighting ability seem less legit. But even though he was on Walker, Texas Ranger...he was a serious ass kicker in his prime.

Duran gets his ass kicked. End of story.

They had organized competitions with Boxers and TKD masters in the past, and from what I've been able to tell, it was the boxers who had the dominating edge in the contests. For example, there was the "Karate Masters versus Boxing Professionals and International Martial Arts Demonstrations" that took place in Houston back in 1975 (I believe), and the boxer vs. TKD results of that event were;

Termite Watkins KO-4 Chong Lee (2 time Korean national TKD champion)

Gene Wells KO-2 Dong Wook Lee (reigning world champion and two time Korean national TKD champion)

Mike Quarry TKO-1 Yong Tae Lee (TKD Grand Master, who stormed out of the ring in frustration at his inabilty against Quarry)

That's only three examples of fairly high profile fights between boxers and martial artists, but there was also another prominant event a few years after that when boxers took nine out of ten matches against the martial artists.

I know one time, in around 73= Joe Hess, a 6th dan East coast champ from Florida, stopped Ali in a spar...Ali could not get near him, because Joe was allowed to leg kick him..whereas, if hand only were used, the boxer had the edge, but Ali was unable to get even one jab in...but again, that is because there were no real rules, just don't break a leg or whatever...The others I didn't hear of...

A 6th dan black belt....Regarding the boxers vs karate matchups.
" You do not use your hands vs any boxer " Norris, he said, or any Karate guy with half a brain, would sweep legs, kick low, knees and shins prefferable, and once knocked to the ground with any legsweep, you use the Judo learned in Karate as well...Otherwise, the boxer has the advantage...Kick low and break the damn shinbone, or run like hell!!

Yeah Inoki kicked the hell out of Ali's legs from a "crab" position. Ferdie Pacheco said his legs were all bruised and it took him a long time to recover. Stupid fight that was ruled a draw and Inoki rarely stood up the whole fight.

I think it was the same night that Andre the Giant picked up Chuck Wepner and through him out of the ring over the top rope.
