How far can Kell Brook go?

Was it a genuine offer or a tweet?
Re: How far can Kell Brook go?
If you were an American or whatever nationality world champion, would you come over here to defend your title with the strong chance that you're either going to get jobbed on the cards or even worse, be on the end of one of those suspect early stoppages that away fighters quite often seem to endure. Not just that but most of the time these guys arent probably being paid anything particularily spectacular to defend their titles over here.

I'm sure a few would for the 5mil he supposedly offered Khan. I think his teams knew he didn't have it at world level. Senchenko had him hurt and he seemed tired, against Jones he was blowing out his arse and lucky the fight was at home. There was a time when I thought he could do it but he's been fighting eliminators for four years now and backed away from Alexander. Not good form.

Yeah in that instance they would lol. Noone outside of Khan unless it was Mayweather or something would get that kind of payday though.Tomasino wrote:columbo wrote:If you were an American or whatever nationality world champion, would you come over here to defend your title with the strong chance that you're either going to get jobbed on the cards or even worse, be on the end of one of those suspect early stoppages that away fighters quite often seem to endure. Why not? And Mayweather is not in the equation for Brook, he makes more than Eddie Hearn is worth for each fight
I just think it's all slight of hand with Brook. I mean, who has he beaten to be talked about in same sentence as Floyd or Manny, even Bradley?
Re: How far can Kell Brook go?
How would they generate the revenue needed to pay someone that? The only reason Khan would get that kind of money is because he's got a name in this country and has a good profile and all the rivalry between them. They'd be banking of it selling out a big arena or a football stadium to be able to fund it as it is i'd imagine.Tomasino wrote:columbo wrote:Yeah in that instance they would lol. I don't think he will get a World Title. He'll lose his big shot, then lose his motivation and not give a sh!t.
Re: How far can Kell Brook go?
Tomasino, My post only makes no sense, to people whose knowledge of the current situation is very limited, recently Bellew away from home, Macklin away from home 3 times, Barker away from home 3 times, Murray away from home twice, forget Hall and Mcdonell, Do some research before making assumptions and I am not a Brook fan, just think he is the best in the country at all weights.

I didn't say that they all fought at home, merely that they managed to secure world title fights. Something that Brook, despite fighting so called eliminator for four years, hasn't been able to do. He let the Alexander fight slip away rather easily.
So your not a fan of the fighter you feel is the best in the UK? Why not?
Re: How far can Kell Brook go?
He's not the best at his own weight, although some would debate that, but Froch, Groves, Burns, Murray and a few more are a level above him right now. His best win is either Carson Jones, who has no notable wins and scraped a draw against Dean Byrne and still took Brook life and death first time round, or Vyacheslav Senchenko, another fighter without a notable victory, was stopped by Paulie Malignaggi and was being beaten by a shadow of Ricky Hatton, coming off a 3 1/2 year lay off, mostly spent boozing, until Ricky ran out of steam late on.Anzi wrote:Tomasino, My post only makes no sense, to people whose knowledge of the current situation is very limited, recently Bellew away from home, Macklin away from home 3 times, Barker away from home 3 times, Murray away from home twice, forget Hall and Mcdonell, Do some research before making assumptions and I am not a Brook fan, just think he is the best in the country at all weights.
Re: How far can Kell Brook go?
firstly we don't really know if he did, do we ? Khan says they have not received such an offer and it is common sense that Khan v Brook would be PPV and achieve big gates, Brook against a top American would not, unless it was Mayweather or Pacman in which case 5mil would not cut it.Tomasino wrote:palooka wrote:I think you've at least half a point there mickey. Has Hearn made any 5mil offers to the other world class welterweights or just the light welter Khan?

Then you did not understand my previous post, Promoters try to get home advantage for many reasons, away from home carries risk, options and can be less lucrative, so in a nutshell that's why Brook has not got the fights he wants.Tomasino wrote:Anzi wrote:Tomasino, My post only makes no sense, to people whose knowledge of the current situation is very limited, recently Bellew away from home, Macklin away from home 3 times, Barker away from home 3 times, Murray away from home twice, forget Hall and Mcdonell, Do some research before making assumptions and I am not a Brook fan, just think he is the best in the country at all weights.

It's difficult to cherry pick a mega fight when you've not beaten a top 10 fighter.

Re: How far can Kell Brook go?
Brook found his level in the first Carson fight. If he finds it hard to make welterweight to the extent that it affects his ability to prepare properly for fights he should move up to light-middleweight. Brook never wins a world title.palooka wrote:I think you've at least half a point there mickey. Re: How far can Kell Brook go?
I would take Frankie Gavin to beat him, Khan's never fought at Welterweight, he'd completely outbox Brook then get careless and walk onto one and get stopped, but just because Khan fights out of the US doesn't mean he isn't English, it's like saying Pacquiao isn't Filipino.Anzi wrote:Khan fights out of the USA, so he is the best at his weight here, what is your point !expe wrote:He's not the best at his own weight, although some would debate that, but Froch, Groves, Burns, Murray and a few more are a level above him right now. So you are now saying Brook should fight fringe contenders and journeymen until such time as a world champion wants to come to Britain to face him, with the UKs terrible reputation for hometown decisions and also the fact Brook couldn't draw flies to shite? Brook should take a risk if he's so good and get his lazy arse into world class competition. He won't though and that's because he's not good enough.

And the same applies for the champion, so who should travel? Since the champion is the one with the belt, he holds the cards, so Kell needs to get his passport out.Anzi wrote:Then you did not understand my previous post, Promoters try to get home advantage for many reasons, away from home carries risk, options and can be less lucrative, so in a nutshell that's why Brook has not got the fights he wants.Tomasino wrote:Anzi wrote:Tomasino, My post only makes no sense, to people whose knowledge of the current situation is very limited, recently Bellew away from home, Macklin away from home 3 times, Barker away from home 3 times, Murray away from home twice, forget Hall and Mcdonell, Do some research before making assumptions and I am not a Brook fan, just think he is the best in the country at all weights.

Re: How far can Kell Brook go?
Seems ages since Kell was supposed to get a title shot. I'm sure he's more frustrated with the situation than anyone. He's nearly there though if everything goes to plan, which I'm not optimistic about.
April 19th, Porter V Malignaggi takes place on the B-Hop under-card. If Kell doesn't fight the winner after that, then surely they can't waste anymore time with him waiting around. He'll have to go to the US anyway for the shot.
I can see him moving up to LM if the shot doesn't come very soon. The interest in his fights seem to have died a death. We know patience is a virtue and Brook needs to stay focused but the years are passing and others are coming through.
If he doesn't get the shot, Eddie needs to get Kell on some US under-cards against top opponents and force the issue, Rios, Soto Karass, Guerrero, Collazo, Lopez etc. If he's that special, let's see it. Surely he can't wait another 2 years if the title doesn't come fighting 'warm ups' against Argie's.
What I see is, no title shot and probably Brook v Malignaggi at the end of the year in a final, final eliminator...

I'm not convinced that brook is convinced of his own ability at world level. I think that will be his downfall
