It was entertaining watching the boxing competitions, and as expected, bitter rivals Thailand and the Philippines went head-to-head in the finals. The competition between these two countries were so fierce that the two sides accused each other of rigging the results. That's funny considering all the judges and referee were from other countries whenever these two countries were represented.
Anyway, I was impressed with the advancement of the style and technical skill of the finalists I think they'll be competitive in the lower weight classes in the next World amateur championships and the Olympics.
Watch out for these guys:
Light-Flyweight class: Harry Tanamor (PHI)
Flyweight: Somjit Jongjohor (THA)
Bantamweight: Joan Tipon (PHI)
Featherweight: Worapoj Petchkoom (THA)
Lightweight: Genebert Basadre (PHI)
Light-Welterweight: Manon Boonjumnong (THA)
BTW, Jongjohor was a World Amateur champion and Petchkoom a silver medalist in the last Olympics.
23rd SEA Games 2005
23rd SEA Games 2005
If I am not mistaken Boonjumnong is an Olympic Champion
