Kevin Anderson v Agoe Ashong

Anderson is the Commonwealth Champion who has won all of his 15 fights, a very hard hitter with a great knockout ratio.

Ashong is an unknown African who has only had 8 fights (it was 5 last week

) and 6 of his opponents have only had 4 fights between them

Who the fcuk has sanctioned this fight?

Its a complete disgrace and potentially puts shame on boxing yet again.

Just when boxing is getting back on track again after such a bad spell, some greedy c*nt decides to cash in on a complete mismatch.

Sky have improved the quality of fights recently, so why are they letting it slip.

Why have the board allowed it?

Why have Sky Allowed it? :(

Why have Matchroom allowed it?

Why are the general public being conned? :x

What has Ashong done to warrant this chance? Why isn't Anderson fighting a more legitimate opponent? I thought Josh Okine and Ali Nuumbembe were fighting for the opportunity.

I think there is a fairly hefty disparity between boxrec's record and the official figure. Figures being banded about by Gilmour and some of the Scottish papers were suggesting his record was more like in the high-teens, with Duran being his only defeat.

Not the most prestigious of match-ups the comm. org could come up with granted, but I think the Duran result shows Ashong will be a fairly decent test.

As far as I know this is a voluntary, and the winner of Okine and Nuumbembe will be Anderson's first mandatory

They probably included his amateur fights for their figures

I have a copy of his record which states he is 15-1-0 from the Ghanian Boxing Authority. As you probably know yourself Chado these records are very hard to verify!

Lolengo Mocks record was talked about as being a lot different between Boxrec and Fight Fax a while back.

The way it usually goes with these unknown Africans is they are either crap and fold in the first minute or turn out to be tough and awkward and give the home fighter a hard nights work.

Because they don't have to face Ali it is a voluntary defence they don't need to take on the mandatory challenger or one of them

I've never seen Ashong fight so can't comment on whether it will be a good fight or not. I'd never seen Okine fight and he didn't do too badly against David Barnes.

We'll see on Friday and I hope Anderson wins and then Ali beats Okine and we can see the two paired up in 2006. Hasn't Anderson got to defend before the end of March against them?

Any idea when Ali will fight Okine

Well it's hardly the first reasonably unknown quantity to challenge for the Commonwealth title.

Anderson's win over Okine last time out proved Kevin was for real. I like Anderson, he does his talking with his fists in the ring.

Ali v Okine should be early 2006 in Manchester.

I agree Anderson v Ali would be a cracking fight.

Anderson has been ordered to defend against the winner before the end of March.

I completley agree with this quote, I have been a fan of Kevin Anderson since he turned pro. he is a very good, powerfull boxer.

I am a bit gutted him and Ali may have to fight eachother, but this is boxing not badminton.

Anderson does his talking in the ring, Ali does his talking in the ring.

Should make for a great fight
