John Murray, how up for the Crolla fight is he?
I met John Murray at his gym recently where he is coaching boxers himself and has two lads turning over pro with him soon.
I wanted to get his views on the upcoming Crolla fight and some other questions regarding the history between the boxers and their coach Joe Gallagher. Everyone knows the split between Murray and Gallagher was not on good terms and I asked John his opinion on how much an influence will Gallagher have on the fight and why they split up?
Can the experienced Murray roll back the years and defeat the fresher more active Crolla? Here's what Murray thinks... What are your views be interesting to know peoples thoughts on this matchup.

Thank you, hope you enjoy the video and its ok to post it on here,?

Re: John Murray, how up for the Crolla fight is he?
I watched this the other week, great interview.
Having the "fire in your belly" again needs to be correctly tempered with a "cool head".
I did think perhaps Murray will stop Crolla, but the more I think about it he took Derry and Rees punches well and has grown a lot more into the lightweight division of late.
Another BIG thing in Crolla's favour is that he has fought at a consistently high level now throughout Murray's absence and recently did a long stint at the Wildcard sparring Beltran and the like.
I have a soft spot for Murray, but he shall need to do more than pull angry frowns and bang his gloves together to win this one. Tools go rusty very quickly and whilst Crolla has less, he has kept his razor sharp.

You've got a great Youtube channel mate, I've watched loads of the vids on there. Love the extended interviews with people like Farnell and Rimmer.
Murray is an intense guy. Hard to know what he has left, we'll have to wait for the Corlla fight to find out.

I echo the earlier comment about how good the British Boxers Youtube channel is. Not as prolific in terms of videos posted as IFL - but the emphasis is always on the boxers, trainers and the fights....not the promoters. From an exiled Mancunian living and working in London, it's always great to listen to boxers who I idolised in my youth.
Re: John Murray, how up for the Crolla fight is he?
Chalk me up as a fan of that YT channel too. Always good stuff.
Even though he's not a known puncher, I think Crolla may well stop John down the stretch, probably a stopped on the stool jobby. I see Murray coming out all guns blazing as per but running out of steam and getting picked off.

Re: John Murray, how up for the Crolla fight is he?
I think Murray walks all over Crolla, too big, too strong and Crolla isn't good enough to negate that by outboxing him.

I think Crolla will win by a clear points decision, after 6 rounds Anthony will take over and the 2years johns had out may start to show.
Great fight all the same and can't wait for it

Think someone posted this video a week or so ago.
But yeah the British Boxers channel is great and has some really insightful stuff.
The Tyson Fury interview on there when he was training for Haye is a classic

In a way I hope you're right, not because I want to see Crolla get hammered - I'm impartial - but because I hope I'm wrong and John was not in fact ruined by Rios.expe wrote:I think Murray walks all over Crolla, too big, too strong and Crolla isn't good enough to negate that by outboxing him.

Agree with this, John partied hard during a big chunk of that 2 years out as well, I think this is similar to Crolla v Andy Morris with Crolla coming on strong late in the fightbilly nelson wrote:I think Crolla will win by a clear points decision, after 6 rounds Anthony will take over and the 2years johns had out may start to show.

Thank you for your comments regarding the YouTube channel, I'm pleased people like it. It looks like Murray-Crolla is a pick'em fight, plenty of questions and for's and against's, which will make for an interesting fight that will surely live up to all the expectations. Just working on a Carl 'The Cat' Thompson interview about his career look out for that one, very interesting story Carl tells.

Really looking forward to this fight. Cant beat good british domestic showdowns!!
Re: John Murray, how up for the Crolla fight is he?
Ditto. I was just a lad when Carl was boxing but, for very different reasons, he, Danny Williams and John Simpson are the three guys I've always rooted for whereas normally I'm really neutral and happy to see the best guy win. Carl just got in there and put it all on the line, no bullshit or bluster, no hype or talk, just a hard man with a massive heart and a never say die attitude. Good quality boxer as well. A real British boxing legend for meMichael bennt wrote:Cant wait for the Carl Thompson interview grew up watching this warrior, got some great memories watching his fights with my dad, my all time favourite British fighterbritishboxers wrote:Thank you for your comments regarding the YouTube channel, I'm pleased people like it. Re: John Murray, how up for the Crolla fight is he?
The fight depends on which John Murray turns up if it's the Murray of 2 years ago he will probably stop crolla, 2 years out the ring is a long time and it's not as if John lives a quiet life he likes to party hard, crolla has been very active and improved massively so it's goner be a top scrap, it's Murray v crolla not the joe Gallagher show like the prick thinks
