Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser

Who wins? For me Bellew may take this by stoppage. His power looks to have travelled up and I think Cleverley may have been totally disheartened by what happened against Kovalev.
Thoughts?

Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
Cleverly will beat Bellew every time IMO doesn't matter what the weight is.
Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
Not over 13 stone he won't! Clev would get put to sleep, he is a l. Heavy
Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
Nathan needs a bout or 2 to get into the weight; Kovalev would have hammered Bellew the same.

Based on a razor-thin victory at light-heavy?TopGun wrote:Cleverly will beat Bellew every time IMO doesn't matter what the weight is.
There's not much between these guys. Not sure what happens if they meet at cruiser.

On cleverlys worst night with a busted rib and short training camp he went and beat tony bellew in his home town In front of his fans, I think cleverly beats him again, he has bellews number
Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
Comparing Kovalev and Bellew's power dear god. Clev is far from chinny so Bellew would have to have some ridiculous power to hurt him. If i'm honest I have no idea who wins until I see Clev in the Cruiserweight division, he might even have power?

Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
When people try and compare bellew and kovalev power it makes my skin crawl, makes me feel the same way as when that dildo Bradley skeete says he gets told a lot he is like a young tommy hearns, I don't know how skeete says that with a straight face he is fornicating absolute garbage who has already over achieved winning a English titleWelshJack wrote:Comparing Kovalev and Bellew's power dear god. Anyone think this is already a done deal at the Echo arena in june?

Genuinely, I would like to understand your reasoning behind that statement.TopGun wrote:Cleverly will beat Bellew every time IMO doesn't matter what the weight is.

The promotional / legal implications of that are interesting !broomy7s wrote:Anyone think this is already a done deal at the Echo arena in june?
Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
Cleverly took the fight with not a lot of notice. He went to Bellew's home town and didn't have the best camp or build up. This was Clev at his worst. Bellew fought out of his skin. Hope that helps?bripez wrote:Genuinely, I would like to understand your reasoning behind that statement.TopGun wrote:Cleverly will beat Bellew every time IMO doesn't matter what the weight is.

I read the comment quick and thought that you said Bellew would beat Cleverley !! ........
Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
Bellew's best asset is his mouth. You don't hear Clev slagging off fighters like Bellew does. Clev doesn't bring up about the fact he has a Maths degree, the media do, that's not his fault and Bellew or whinges like a girl. I would actually like to see Bellew knocked out cold by Clev.

Cleverley is making an annoucement this week. I assume his appearance on Ringside was in anticipation of him signing with Matchroom shortly. I'd expect a Cleverly versus Bellew fight to be announced for Cardiff later in the summer with Selby chief headliner fighting for some other WBO international belt or something. Cleverley beats Bellew for me. Superior workrate and better all round skills.

Is Clev signing with Matchroom? On what basis did you hear that?
Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
Guesswork I think. But thinking about it Cleverly used to be a regular on allegedly live UK bills, but hasnt been on there for a long while (maybe I have missed the odd cameo) so possibly there is no smoke without fire.

Good shout
Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
He doesn't have to be Ray Robinson to be better than Bellew, and we've seen him outhustle Bellew once. Where's the controversy?Counter-puncher wrote:and again the myth of Clev's 'boxing skills' raises its ugly headBlack Sam Bellamy wrote:Cleverley is making an annoucement this week. Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
It might not be a fight for all the marbles, but it's still very interesting to the British boxing public.
I hope it happens myself.
Be better for Clev to have a debut at the weight first though I reckon, than go straight in.

Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
thats my point, he outhustled him. he won that fight, IMO, simply by virtue of letting his hands go more and taking what he had to take. i thought Bellew- no Robinson himself- looked the more poised and skillful boxer in there. better jab, better head movement, just got out-stamina'd IMOSamWise72 wrote:He doesn't have to be Ray Robinson to be better than Bellew, and we've seen him outhustle Bellew once. Re: Cleverly v Bellew at Cruiser
It's a matter of opinion, but I think Cleverley has the beating of Bellew every time. In fact I've yet to see anything from Bellew that tells me he isnt anything more than a good domestic level fighter. Cleverely has obviously fallen short at the top table too, but I think he's better.blackbenson wrote: and what skills are these ? apart from hand speed with no power whatsoever very little or no defensive skills ( but like his dad said he has a granite chin so wont get knocked out) BOOM
Eddie Hearn has tweeted this morning that an announcement will be made tomorrow on the upcoming Cardiff show. The name of the show being "Second Coming". I think that tells you all you need to know. If Cleverely does move to Matchroom then I think it's in everyone's best interests - including Warren's ironically. Cleverley cant sell a ticket outside of Wales and cant fill an arena on his own in Wales either. So in reality there's not much that Warren can do for him as the figures wont add up. The current business model there is all about ticket sellers and he doesnt have many Welsh ticket sellers. With Hearn promoting Cleverly, he can latch onto the nice progress that Matchroom have made in Wales with Selby; and there's the Bellew fight later in the year which will generate plenty of interest via Sky exposure, coupled with Bellew's big mouth. If Cleverely was to win that, he's back in the world mix and if he loses, there's the compensation of a decent final payday on the back of a full house in Cardiff.
