Melbourne heavyweight tourney basic rules

Post by AntonS »

(a) In the event of a draw in eliminator, semi or final (unlikely over 3 rounds) but always a possibility. Should it occur (e.g. 30/27, 27/30. 30/30), 4th round will be instigated. If still a draw, winner of 1st round will be declared the winner, if that ended in draw it goes to 2nd round etc.
(b) In the event winner in eliminator or semi is unable to continue due to injury, loser will naturally move on.

Draw will now be done at official weigh-in, filmed & posted on social media.

Naturally, Boxrec will have it prior to kick-off

# Obviously it pays to win 1st round, whether eliminator, semi or final

hello Anton
sounds like a good night , i have been watching the pommie promotions and they are good nights, have we got enough heavies to fill the bill, i would have thought the winner of the 3rd round would get the nod after a draw was called, as he would appear to be finishing better, just a thought, what do you think?all the best

It's 8 men knockout comp, therefore promoter wants them to put their best foot forward in 1st round....so to speak.

Here's an example how it'll pan out

TBA v TBA
Final

TBA v TBA
Semi final 2

TBA v TBA
Semi final 1

Tuivasa v Mason
Elim 4

Briggs v Sio
Elim 3

Kirby v Nasio
Elim 2

Levi v Smith
Elim 1

Winner of eliminator 1 & 2 contest semi 1, and 3 & 4 semi 2
Final will be contested after Zappa vs Tsuchiya

Might & it might not. Wait & see I guess. Numerous cards looked crap, but turned-out to be A OK on the night.

Misipati whilst a late call up will be a live body in this tourny!! He can bang and can take a shot! He won the kickboxing King of the Ring Super-Heavyweights here in NZ! And looks to have a favorable draw!
