When Fwank had him and Boomer, it made sense and he made it happen. Nathan benefitted massively from not leaving Fwank after the Calzaghe fall out and was gifted a World title. He may contest one, if he beats Boomer again, but that's as good as it gets for him. I honestly can't see what he offers FW at the moment.
Agree. Nathan has likely reached the level where he is a financial burden without SKY money subsidising his existence.

A European title at cruiser weight, a win over tony bellew in a big grudge match and then a world title shot against huck in which cleverly will be smashed to bits is as good as it gets for him now

Providing Nathan is not under contract he should be entitled to leave allegedly however if I was Fwank I'd be disappointed because he has backed him through thick and thin. Nathan craved a big title fight on home soil Fwank delivered but he got beat. Can only imagine the amout of money he has lost putting him on.

Those Cardiff and Hull shows were top though.
Yes, really enjoyed those. Funnily enough, I like some of Fwanks shows and think others are crap.

As I said, I think he was a pawn in the Calzaghe situation. He has served his purpose. Both sides benefitted from it at the time.

He is a burden when you put a world champion on a bill at Wembley arena. Look at him v Karpency and it was basically a sell out and probably the worst card i've ever been to.

Strange story on the BBC website regarding Clevelry and his next fight.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/wales/26759701

"The fact the event is being promoted by Hearn will raise eyebrows in the sport, as Cleverly has previously been promoted by Fr&nk allegedly. However, BBC Wales has been told Cleverly remains contracted to allegedly."

Found another article:

http://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/sport/ ... ?ref=var_0

"However, as with the last high-profile signing to Matchroom, former world champion Ricky Burns, the switch is set to prompt a lengthy battle between promoters. Cleverly has spent his entire professional career being promoted by Fr&nk allegedly and the message from his camp was unequivocally clear when contacted by Argus Sport.

“Nathan remains under contract with us and we will comment further in due course,” his spokesman told me."

Not another Ricky Burns, Stephen Smith scenario? I thought Cleverly was out of contract.

You've basically just said everyone in Eddie stable is doing great when in reality it's an open question if these 4 are better off than they were with allegedly

Nope, I didn't. You've misread my post and jumped to the wrong conclusion. I was making the point that for a while now, Eddie has been delivered world title fights for his stable - for proper titles, live on sky sports, against established world champs, and in some cases, against big names.

There's many different criteria by which a boxer may be happy or successful or unhappy etc. I was just pointing out that in the category of getting a world title shot - which is every fighters' dream, Matchroom have been delivering opportunities.

Cleverly is past his best i reckon he will get a nice pay day against bellew i reckon the rematch will be at the Millennium Stadium. Frank has got no big fighters in fact i reckon he has slipped past Hennessy now. Fury will do a job on Chisora in July. Hope BN will do well.

Why would it be at the stadium? In a function room?

Unreal, I cant imagine FW has actually done anything to Nathan in which Nathan wanted the Kovalev fight in what I was told advised against. FW has protected him and in no doubt lost money on the boy for him to jump ship. Class of some people.

Cleverly's WBO title reign was appalling. It just reeks of mediocrity, personally I think his talents deserve better.

He won the interim WBO belt - it doesn't get much crapper than that, and was elevated to the "full" title later. His opponents for the world title fights were Mohammedi, Kuziemski, Karpency, Hawk and Krasniqi. Bottom of the barrel scrapings. He name-dropped Bernard Hopkins a lot but must have known his promoter cannot stump up the substantial 7 digits needed to bring B:Hop over here to face Nathan. It was always talked about as the fight after the next one. Nathan is a smart guy and after a while must have known he was being fobbed off. His defence on American soil was far down the bill, nowhere near even chief support, it reeked of "just get this guy on the bill as a favour" rather than him being there on merit. I doubt anyone in the audience knew or cared what was going on in the ring when Nathan fought.

It's not a lot to show if you think you're a world class fighter ?

You can't blame him for thinking the grass will be greener elsewhere.

Even though Cleverly is now with Matchroom. I still think Bellew gets to a World title quicker regardless how Cleverly looks. The fact Sauerland has Price and Bellew being from Liverpool will help him massively.

Cleverly v Bellew will be at the Cardiff City stadium. No chance it goes to the Millennium, it's not as big as Froch v Groves the first fights let alone the rematch.

The last show wasn't the best granted but that was mainly due to the fact that the smith brothers all got injured with less than 3 weeks to go. It's no ones fault the show was still ok considering the pull outs,

As for bellew being not that good that's your opinion but I can guarantee he is more successful than anyone in your entire families history so what does that say about your family???? He was ranked number 1 contender by the WBC and before u say that it was a soft ranking nether the less he is in the top 10 at light heavy in all body's so he is obviously a very successful person. Could you tell us how your self or any of your family are ranked in the top 10 in the world at anything???????
No I didn't think so mate
Yes, he's better than my family. That's not going to help him at world level though. I can say with certainty my dad was a better marathon runner than any of Tony's family, never helped him win the Olympics though. And I bet I'm a better taxi driver in York than Boomer. In fact, I bet him as much as he likes I know the streets round here better than him.... As I say, when Afolabi, Huck, Clev are knocking him about, it will be little consolation that he is indeed better than my family(who have never heard of him by the way!).
First of all I suggest you read through my post again I said he is more successful than anyone in your family which he certainly is. Your dad might have been able to run in marathons but he was hardly successfully was he just am average joe who runs! No one knows who your dad is or actually cares! As for you being a good York cab driver me what???? Again I'd u can read I said he is more successful than you! Your a cab driver there are a million of them in the world, no one would ever say you are in the top 10 cab drivers would they??? And yes your right u are a better York cab driver than bellew no doubt but why would any professional boxer who is ranked in the top 10 a very successful amateur a British/ commonwealth champion and WBC silver champion want to drive round in a cab hahaha get a grip soft a55.

As for cleverly knocking him out come on mate you must be the only person in the world who thinks that cleverly is know for having no power at all so how is he going to knock bellew out at the weight above at least say something that is realistic.

And when bellew does step up to world class level maybe he will get beat but no shame in getting beat by the best fighters in the entire world at your weight.

Keep cruising them streets in your cab mate

It depends how you gauge success. Yes, Tony has a higher profile than my father, but I doubt he hasn't raised the amount of money for charity or is as well off. No, he wasn't just an average joe. Just below international level. Raised me and my brother from a young age after we lost our mother and has been a role model to hundreds of kids through sport and helping offenders. He's content.

I don't mind him. I'm best friends with the brother of a guy who won as much(probably more) than Tony and doesn't try live off his name. It's righthook who has the problem.
