Billy Conn vs Willie Pastrano 15 rds at LHW

Post by Seamus »

Two evenly matched fighters with skill and craftiness, though not the biggest of punchers. So who would win if they met for the LHW title.

I have to give this some serious thought myself, as I could easily see this going to a split decision.

These two are not evenly matched. Conn is much better than Pastrano in every facet of the game except power. Conn wins an easy 15 UD.

Pastrano was a very clever and underrated boxer. Near the end of his career he helped tutor a young Muhammad Ali. Like Conn he also performed fairly well against larger opponents.

In a 15 rounder I think Conn wins something like 9-6, but if they fought three times Pastrano would win one.
