Warren on Cleverly leaving?
How come we haven't heard him kicking and screaming?
Also how come Hearn hasn't said much about his new signing with a big press conference like he does with some fighters?

I think Fwank is just sat with his fingers crossed hoping it doesn't fall through.TopGun wrote:How come we haven't heard him kicking and screaming?

Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
Was this really a big shock to Warren? Before the Kovalev fight, many on here were highlighting how he doesn't shift tickets, has to fight in England as a co-headline or chief support even with his 'world' title and that the fight with Kovalev was Warren's way of letting him sink or swim.
Does Cleverly really have anything to offer Warren?

Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
Clev has to thank Fwank fir his career. If he wasn't with Fwank he would've never been world champ. Bellew would've taken Fwank's WBO route and Clev would've had to go for Hopkins or Dawson and would have most likely lost
Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
That's fabulous.
Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
Frank did an amazing job with cleverly it isn't his fault he ran into a Kovalev who is now a beast. think we have seen Cleverly best days and he will probably lose again by the end of the year.

Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
Because it isn't really a big signing. From what I've picked up, it is a fight to fight deal and will have the primary purpose of the Welsh shows and Bellew.TopGun wrote:How come we haven't heard him kicking and screaming?

Like others have said, Cleverly probably isnt a huge loss anyway.DMA1987 wrote:Because it isn't really a big signing. Yeah exactly. Hearn can use him for the Bellew fight, Warren couldn't.columbo wrote:Like others have said, Cleverly probably isnt a huge loss anyway.DMA1987 wrote:Because it isn't really a big signing. My guess is frank is fuming and probably trying to see if he can sue Eddie Hearn in some way!
As for cleverly I think it is a good move lets be honest all tho allegedly is really good for international fights the general public will not pay a subscription especially with sky having most of the big names so unless cleverly got some tv exposure he would have faded away quickly. At least now with sky if he can come back he can b seen regularly and get back in the general publics minds.

BNation would have been better off being freeview and putting the big fights on PPV, rather than being a subscription channel. If they are trying to appeal to the public, they should have used the same model Sky use. They could keep the channel freeview for the most part and then charge for certain fights. 10 quid for the mayweather fight, 10 quid for the fury/chisora fight, 10 quid for the pacman fight etc. That model works, plus they would get more in advertising because more viewers would be watching and they would actually make more money charging on a PPV basis for certain fights. They could charge a small fee for some other fights. I'd pay 5 quid to watch the Hopkins vs Shumenov fight in HD. How are they going to hype these fights without being freeview? What warren is realizing now is that the boxing hardcore fans are not enough to sustain the channel.
Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
I don't think he's that bothered, it's not like Burns, Brook, Bellew and the Smiths where they held some value to him, Cleverly wasn't much of a draw with the belt and without it even less, Fwank isn't putting on shows in Wales at the moment, so he would be losing money putting him on other bills elsewhere. In fact, this has probably saved him a few quid anyway, Cleverly's on the way out, but Hearn can use him to boost sales when Selby boxes, before feeding him to Bellew.righthook wrote:My guess is frank is fuming and probably trying to see if he can sue Eddie Hearn in some way!

This is the kind of comment that keeps me away from boxing forums (the part in bold).
Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
Whether you like it or not, that will undoubtedly be Hearn's plan, put a lesser draw in with a bigger draw, make big money and hope the big draw wins, in essence, feeding Cleverly to Bellew.TheLeprechaun wrote:expe wrote:

Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
His contract expired along with the fact he is probably going to fail miserably at world level cruiser-weight. It's a no brainier for Hearn with a fight to fight contract with shows coming up in Wales, and then hopefully the Bellew rematch if both win a few fights.
Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
Does Adam Booth train Nathan now?
Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
I guess he could have some value to Hearn with the Wales shows, but ultimately you are right, the only real value Cleverly has to Hearn (and possibly any promoter) is the fight with Bellew.expe wrote:Whether you like it or not, that will undoubtedly be Hearn's plan, put a lesser draw in with a bigger draw, make big money and hope the big draw wins, in essence, feeding Cleverly to Bellew.TheLeprechaun wrote:expe wrote:

Though I've never been a fan it's bit sad to say really.

Feeding him is the wrong expression.
Cleverly would be the bookies favourite going into the fight. Hearn wouldn't be "feeding" Cleverly to Bellew. That implies that Bellew would win the fight comfortably.
Hearn will have both bases covered. He's signed Clev to a contract.
I take your point though, just think you used the wrong terminology.

Which household names do Sky have that will feature on regular Sky and not PPV?righthook wrote:My guess is frank is fuming and probably trying to see if he can sue Eddie Hearn in some way!

Re: Warren on Cleverly leaving?
I think Fwank's reaction varies according to the value of the boxer. He didn't want to let Bellew go but after the board decision went against him, he considered appealing and then said "it's only Bellew" and threw in the towel.
If Fwank has taken a fighter to the world title and there's then money to be made from each promotion, anyone would be livid if the boxer walked. Cleverley is damaged goods though. I think he's only going up in weight because 175lbs is a bit too tasty a division. Fwank is probably gutted on a personal level but as others have noted above, his wallet may not miss him.
