Pulled this one up from Youtube. Sanders had around 10 or 11 pro fights here and looked pretty fit at 217 lbs. He was in there with a dangerous opponent to for being a young prospect. Look at the hand speed and sharp left hooks that he lays Johnny out with .

Re: Corrie Sanders vs Johnny Duplooy
Two ways of looking at the fight... either Duplooy was badly on the slide having been beaten fairly heavily by Coetzer and Damiani or Sanders showed what he could do when fully fit, completely focussed and in the mood.
Having lived in South Africa I was a big fan of Corrie and I'll edge towards this being a case of him showcasing his considerable ability; especialy as he was a virtual novice. He moved well for a big lad, hit bloody hard and his handspeed was superb.....shame that we only saw the best of him in that one fight with Wlad.
PS Duplooy's mullet is nearly as shocking as Rudi Voller's....and that is saying something.

Re: Corrie Sanders vs Johnny Duplooy
Good post. Yeah it seems to me that he looked really promising in his prospect days after watching several of his fights on youtube. While I followed boxing pretty religiously in the 90's, somehow I missed a lot of his earlier showings. Those hands were fast and the hook was lethal. He actually showed quite a bit of mobility, contrary to what some have said about him being a slow plodding mover.
