This can't be right

Iran Barkely could return to the ring i have read.
this is on fightnews.com

Barkley, now 45, is a former super middleweight and light heavyweight champion who also has new found hope, as he was recently granted a renewal of his federal boxing id card, possibly allowing him to return to the ring after a six-year retirement.

Barkley stated, "I'm coming back and this time I'm fighting for myself and my family. I took the six years off to let my eye heal, but now I am fine." Barkley claims the detached retina in his left eye has completely healed and now sees 20/30 out of the eye.

At 45 he is mentally disturbed.

I'm 44 and been out of the ring as long as he has and I wouldn't even dream of it.

Saw a video interview with him last year. He sounded so deluded and punch drunk it was terribly sad. I remeber thinking at the time that his only saving grace was that he looked and sounded so bad no one would dare give him a licence. Sounds like I was wrong. Whoever granted that licence needs shooting.

Iran used to be one of the most intelligent fighters around - wouldn't know if from looking at him, but he had a really sharp mind and was a great interview

"What did Tommy (Hearns) say to you Iran, after you'd beaten him?"

"Not much...they just sort of carried him out."

But last I saw he's over 200 1bs...read a story where he was at a boxing event, and saw his old promoter Don King. Iran started following King around the room, calling out "Don, Don! Can I speak to you?"

But King completely blanked him, like he wasn't even there.

Heard a rumour he might be fighting Hearns again. Any truth in this?

I remember reading a story in Boxing News years ago written I think by the late Jim Brady where Don King was holding some function and Barkley - who was just coming off a win against Gerrie Coetzee in a horrible ugly spectacle of a fight - was following King all night to try to get Don to notice him and get him a title shot or a fight of some meaning.
I also heard rumours lately that Barkley is more or less blind in his left eye

Hard to believe that he could make a comeback. He looked finished after the Benn fight 15 years ago.
