Great and underrated champion Pascual Perez from Argentina. I have him rated at #2 at flyweight. To me, he is a top 50 all time great.giacomino wrote:Pascual Perez could use some love at flyweight, IMO. Like Wilde, a great little guy with pop who didn't fight as a pro until he was 26 after winning Olympic gold

Very overrated, but great, champion. To me he is not a top 100 all time great. Newsboy Brown > Pascual Perez.

I had a look at newsboy Browns record. He had some great wins and some bad losses. I don't doubt he was great but why do you rate him so highly?

The competition he defeated over 2 weight classes. Certainly much better than Pascual's. If you list their top 5 wins Brown would likely have all of them.Tomasino wrote:I had a look at newsboy Browns record. He had some great wins and some bad losses. Re: Greatest Fighters in Each Weight Class According to me
If you're ranking boxers in their weight classes and Perez is rated according to flyweight wins how can Brown be rated above him based on wins in a different weight class? (Genuine question)

He was talking about being a top 50 all time fighter. The conversation veered.

I don't see the bad losses on Brown's record. All to solid/very good/great fighters.

I see what you mean he does have the best wins between the two and two draws against LaBarba is good going.

I am going to state right here and now, that Hearns was the greatest junior middle, and Holyfield the greatest cruiser of all time.
That's right, I'm not afraid to be controversial.

(Hearns ought to be thankful Richard 'The Secret' Williams never got his hands on him).
