But if he's Irish then he's not British, why isn't Frampton ranked?

edit: Frampton is ranked

He shouldn't have needed to take a one sided loss to regain confidence.

I'm really disappointed in him and Nelson for that abysmal performance against Crawford.

He'd have been better having a behind closed doors fight without head guard and fight gloves; I don't think time was on their side though and Crawford was mandatory.

World title fight and during that time afolabi had been inactive yet afolabi moves above him, how do you do you work them put? Pick them out a hat?
I didn't say Crawford wasn't world class. Crawford is an average world level talent that Burns should have been able to beat. Crawford is lazy and cocky and Burns should have been able to outwork him.

Afolabi has faired better at world level in recent years than Burns has.
JamieM wrote:Martin Murray is ranked number 2 yet he lost a world title And was brutal in his last fight, just saying:p
You're just saying are you? Why are you just saying? You shouldn't just say.

Murray narrowly and controversially lost to top P4P fighter Martinez. Burns lost widely to world level noob Crawford.

Murray had a good fight against an injury crocked veteran, the result flattered him as no one gave him a chance going in. Martinez has been out since with recurring problems and Martin looked dire since (and did he duck a bout with Golovkin?)

Horse- Im sorry but your rankings are horse-sh**, Tyson Fury above Ricky Burns who was a 2 weight world champion, Dereck Chisora over Jamie McDonnell who in truth is a world champion who was stripped over politics and Scott Quigg whos currently a world champion and Chisroa having lost to any half decent fighters including Fury. Frankie Gavin over Brian Rose who is about to fight for a world title and has won the lonsdale belt outright. Im confused as hell , How do you come up with this? is it like a mixture of form, reputation and potential? strange :)

In my opinion Martin Murray is not a top 5 fighter and Kevin Mitchell should be in the list.

Key word there being was, 3 poor performances in a row from Ricky, he's moved down a bit too far for me, but he's not performed at his best for 18 months now. McDonnell isn't world champion, he was stupid enough not to fight the mandatory and got stripped, the belt still doesn't mean he's better than Chisora, who in all honesty beat Helenius and gave Vitali a tough night's work for the first time in a few years and has rebounded since the defeat to Haye with some convincing wins. Gavin has the Lonsdale belt outright too and in all honesty, he has ability than Brian Rose could only dream of, along with a bigger punch, he outdoes Rose in every department, who has found the easiest route to a world title fight, but he's a huge underdog and won't be coming home with the belt. Scott Quigg isn't world champion, Guillermo Rigondeaux is the WBA champion. I don't know how Horse compiles his rankings, but you seem to be going off reputation and the titles a fighter holds, I would rather look at the abilities of the fighters, along with performances and the fighters they've beaten.

I go along with performences, Jamie McDonell won the lonsdale belt outright, Held European with about 4 defences, . Ricky Burns doesnt matter he came stuck against a credible opponent, Not 1 person in that top 30 have fought 3 mandatory s in a row thats unheard of. Hes still a world class fighter and done more world level than everyone above him barring khan and froch. George Groves im a big fan of but hes had 1 fight at world level and done very well but he was beaten. Potentially he can be one of our best fighters but he must prove that in results

palooka wrote:That's a fair comment I think, Murray did look awful last time and if he were ranked on that he wouldn't be in the top 30. You can't rank the boxer based on their best ever performance (can you), what about their most recent?
He fought Martinez less than a year ago, of course I can rate him based on that.

It wasn't an ideal situation, but I still expected more from Burns.

Murray is likely to be fighting Golovkin later in the year.

He isn't a world champion now though is he? Burns has been awful since the Mitchell fight over 18 months ago.

Fury is currently rated higher in his weight division than Burns is in his and he's on better form.

Who's Quigg beaten? McDonnell beat Ceja, but that was almost a year ago and Chisora has picked up 4 solid wins since then. Chisora deserves to be higher than those two.
JamieM wrote:Frankie Gavin over Brian Rose who is about to fight for a world title and has won the lonsdale belt outright.
Didn't Gavin also win the Lonsdale belt outright?

It's a mixture of things just like most people's.

Ricky burns people forget Gonzales was better than they predicted, he toughed it out and won, Beltran he broke his jaw, you proberly couldn't type a post on boxrec with a broken jaw never mind do 10 rounds. And Crawford the better fighter won, simple, the guy fought 3 mandatorys in a row. My point is you can't do a rankings system on form, potential and own opinion. It has to be done on facts and levels I would imagine

Mitchell hasn't beaten a decent fighter since Lora over two years ago and then Burns demolished him. He needs to fight better opposition.

Murray almost beat Martinez, he is clearly a very strong candidate for a top 5 spot. I don't understand why so many people complain about him having a high ranking.

Groves didn't really lose against Froch. The stoppage was a disgrace.
