I go with gavin getting down to light welter if he really wants to make a mark. but to be honest I think its too late at nearly 29. I like his uncanny sense of where to be in the ring though

He's not 29 till the end of september. To put it into context. Degale is 29 next february.

I weren't really posting with Brook in mind though he does seem to fit the bill. When I was 'learning' about boxing I was intrigued by the thought of skill and nounce overcoming physical advantages. The sport seems to have turned toward making fit and powerful athletes that hold a notable size advantage over their opponent.

Turning athletes into boxers, rather than boxers into athletes. But, I will always say a good boxer beats a good brawler, size, strength and physicality will only take you so far. Look at the fighters seen as the best of all time, Robinson, Leonard, Greb, Pep etc and even those who have been at the top of the tree in the last couple of decades, in general they're all slick, well schooled boxers that avoid taking punishment.

you got the context wrong. the point is that degale will not have to go down a weight to progress. gavin, as quite a few have said, will not make a dent in his current weight class at world level. hence the idea that he might drop to 140. but, and heres the context folks, he is 28 and at that age may not want to put in the donkey work to get down, like a 22 year old might be prepared to do. no one said he was "past it"

I'm guessing that once he loses he will wake up and try something different. For most fighters, the weight is a perfect excuse when they lose.

On the other hand, he could decide to move up to 154. Gavin vs Canelo?

I agree with expe... until you get to HW. When you can have a quality 210lbs boxers grab, pushed a bullied by a 6ft 8 250lbs beast

He needs a strength and nutrionist and to move down to 140... I'm not even massively convinced he couldn't make Lightweight. He looks to be carrying an awful lot of extra weight and looks in terrible condition.

He needs a solid 6 months in the gym working on getting himself physically right.

If he does that it'll be easier to judge his power and strength. At the minute, he looks weak and feather fisted as a Welter IMO.

Every time I watch him he gets better and better. I honestly think he will win a world title.

If he can stay free of injury and stay active...another 3 fights this year...then I can see 2015 being his year.

I'm sceptical with some of these big heavyweights tho they really are giants.i think larry Holmes would of beat up the klits!
