Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
It would be a shame if he retired, it was an injury stoppage and a cruel one that it happened so quickly. He took some solid bangs and is not chinny, he looks solid at the weight - he got knocked out by big, big hitters a stone and a half up.
Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
Was it the same eye that got swollen by lebedev?

Tough on Enzo.
Always slightly emotional when someone gets pulled out in that manner.

I missed it.columbo wrote:The fight should of been called off in the first few rounds and it of been ruled a no contest.
Was the swelling not caused by a punch/punches?
Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
Yeah, the swelling was caused by a Braemer left in the last few seconds of the first round. He was more or less blind in that eye straight away. If it was stopped then it would have still been a Braemer stoppage.crusader wrote:I missed it.columbo wrote:The fight should of been called off in the first few rounds and it of been ruled a no contest.

Not sure why it would have been a no contest?
Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
I found it hard to tell myself as quite often they would throw the back hand at the same time and clash heads and come together.crusader wrote:I missed it.columbo wrote:The fight should of been called off in the first few rounds and it of been ruled a no contest.

Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
There was a head clash in the first and Braehmer was cut it's possible Enzo also damaged his eye here. But Braehmer piled on the pressure and that worsened the damage.crusader wrote:I missed it.columbo wrote:The fight should of been called off in the first few rounds and it of been ruled a no contest.

Reminded me of Khan v Barrera
Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
Does anyone know who was originally scheduled for Pulev ?
Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
Brave brave Enzo, I hope he carries on ! Would love to see a rematch, I'm pretty certain it's a 50/50 fight if a cut or swelling don't happen
Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
I doubt Braehmer would be interested in the rematch as he was feeling Enzo's power. If I were Enzo I would give myself two years unless of course the eye injury is serious. Enzo has nothing to be ashamed of he could still have a future at 175.

Enzo could have done him with two eyes.

I don't think he would've to be honest. The eye injury changed the fight. Braehmer decided his best policy was to throw a one - two then grab. Point scoring scoring shots, then smother because he knew the chances of Enzo lasting the distance with that eye were practically nill.
So disappointing for Enzo though, there is no worse way for a fight to be decided than by cuts because it's such an injustice and no reflection of a mans ability.
I still haven't got over Vitali vs Lennox all those years ago when Vitali was ahead on all scorecards and looking the likely winner but done by cuts.
I think boxers should be allowed to box wearing masks - that would solve the problem.

Oliver McCall's son, then Danny Hughes, then the eventual opponent.mrbishi wrote:Does anyone know who was originally scheduled for Pulev ?
What all 3 have in common is that none of them should have been considered in the first place. Okay, we know they're not going to keep Pulev busy against Wilder or Arreola but come on, there should be a better effort with the opposition.
Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
Did't know his son was a fighter. Looking at his record it's interesting that his three losses have been stoppages/KOs since his Dad was so famous for his uberchin.JimJim2009 wrote:Oliver McCall's son, then Danny Hughes, then the eventual opponent.mrbishi wrote:Does anyone know who was originally scheduled for Pulev ?

Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
Last month, Oliver made history, he defeated a polish boxer who'd beaten his son last year ! Which I was personally pleased about, it's a bit much beating father and son as you pad out your unbeaten record.J-C wrote:Did't know his son was a fighter. Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
Pretty sad thing that you just said and I think there's no place for that on a boxing forum, but it raised something I think I noticed - you know what, I felt in a way that Braehmer actually showed mercy towards Enzo.In on the Killtaker wrote:It's too bad Braehmer was not given the opportunity to prolong his beating for just a few more rounds.
You could look at what he did in 2 ways, first way being it was just his German efficiency shining through, he stayed away from Enzo's power and chipped away until the inevitable stoppage.
Second way you could say he didn't overly go for the injury, in fact he rarely hit Enzo again on the eye to my viewing and he didn't overly go for Enzo full stop.
Maybe I'm reading it wrong and Braehmer was just doing the bare minimum as per his style, but he seemed to show Enzo a bit of mercy in there to me, which if correct is quite commendable really.
Re: Braehmer v Maccarinnelli
I just read this post-fight quote from Braehmer:
"When you see it like that, you want to hit it even more. That's boxing," Braehmer said. "I caught him well with my left. Then I wanted to be too spectacular. I wanted too much. It was good that it ended then."

So scrap my last comment, haha!
