I don't see any of his fights at super welter or even welter.
I heard that tito hopkins fought about 5 years ago was a 'biggest' tito.
It wasn't the tito he used to be at welter or super welter and it said that fighting above super welter was his biggest mistake.
What you guys do you think about it ?
Tito at 154

I wouldn't go so far as to say completely useless. But he would come forward with his right leg cocked way back waiting to unload. He couldn't change his tactics against B-Hop and so was tailor-made for B-Hops style of infighting.Decagon wrote:Trinidad fighting someone who wouldn't trade with him was his biggest mistake. At 154 he was pretty good.

Decagon wrote:Yeah, but who did he beat at 154? Vargas simply stood and traded with him - and lost out. Reid was a four-round fighter. If he'd been in shape for that fight, Trinidad would have lost.
yeah i agree
besides vargas, he didnt face any other top tier fighters. tito never fought mosely, AND NEVER GAVE oscar a rematch.
why??
becuase he matches up horribly vs mosely and of course oscar.
- even david reid knocked him down and outboxed him early.
- part of the reason tito went up to JM was he ran away from giving a rematch to oscar, a fight he clearly lost. though other reasons were he couldnt make the weight he was a huge welter.
IMO tito was defitnley at his best at 147, he proved himself more and beat better fighters at 147 than 154.
only reason tito looks really good a 154 is he fought guys tailor made for him.

Brockton, I disagree with you on 2 points. First is the Reid fight. How can you prove that Reid wasn't "in shape for the fight"? And while it's true that Tito did get outboxed earlier, Tito's been stronger the 2nd half of his fights as he eventually closes in with his opponent and unleashes his power punches. Exactly what he did with Reid.
2nd point is the DLH fight. Some fans had DLH winning the first 6 rounds or something similar. I actually had the first 5 rounds something like 2-2 and 1 even. It might have been 3-2 Oscar, I have it written down somewhere how I scored it. I scored it that way because, although DLH is clearly busier, Tito's punches seemed to have more effect on DLH. I had Tito winning that fight, if I remember correctly, by 2 rounds.

As I said, I had it either 2-2-1 or 3-2 for DLH's favor. You say Tito was getting outboxed, that's cool. My opinion was that whenever they would engage, Tito would back Oscar up with power shots. I was picking effectiveness over activity in this fight and others, as well.dempseyfire wrote:wolverine, your scoring is wrong
2-2 after the first 5 rounds? Tito was getting outboxed plain and simple . .
p.s. it might have even been 3-1-1 for DLH's favor, I'll have to look for my notes, but not today. But after that, I had Tito taking over the fight.

Wolverine1 it appears that we were watching the same fight because that is exactly what I saw. At the end of the fight I had a score of 115-113 or something like that in Tito’s favor. Also please just my opinion Tito would have destroyed completely Mosley like he did Reid. Why? Because Mosley is flat footed and tends to trade and that would have been the end for him.

Bo25, I agree with you had Mosley fought Tito. Shane was fast enough to counter-punch Oscar and trade with him, but Tito's power would have been too much for Shane.
