Who remembers Eugenio Monteiro?

Post by Michael bennt »

Portuguese dangerman caused upsets over Gilbert Eastman, takaloo and farnell, knew his way round the ring and was very crafty and smart, also wasn't he banned for juicing? Strange career never turned pro til he was 30 after some kickboxing background then comes to England causes some upsets wins the Wbu title then gets a random test and banned by bird if control, thoughts on him?

Was there the night he beat Farnell whilst juiced to the gills.

He should have had a lifetime ban for that - Arnie soaked up some brutal punishment.

If he had been clean who knows how the fight would have gone?

Glad he faded away.

I was there too. The only Ricky Hatton fight I ever went to. I think Farnell thought it would be routine.

Farnell used his head that night! Literally just kept walking the bloke down. I thought he was going to break his heart, but the assole was juiced up to silly levels & farnell failed a scan or somthing shortly after!

That was my last fight, he wasn't especially good tbh, I was in hospital for 2 weeks after that fight with meningitis which was spotted through a lumbar puncture which I had after the fight to see what was wrong, Doctors said they couldn't believe I walked to the ring never mind boxed 10 rounds! Eugenio got the win that night but the scum bag didn't beat be, he failed the drug test with 2 types of amphetamine and deca nandrolone! He got banned for 12 months when IMO anyone who cheats in boxing should never be allowed in a ring again! If somebody beats me fair and square I will shake there hand! But cheats I've no time for!

Fair play mate - I agree.

Just checking your record, this fight is showing as a loss.

I know it would be small consolation but under the circumstances I would have thought this would have been declared a no contest.

Ps - you often comment on threads that mention your name. Do you regularly read this forum but just not post? Only asking because it would be good to get more comments from boxers, trainers and those involved in the sport.

I said to Robert smith IMO it should show no contest seeing as he got banned! Robert said it's been to long to change that.(WTF) That was about 5 years ago too.

Larry Olubamiwo still has all his wins, even though all of them came while he was doped up to his eyeballs, worse still he's now allowed to box again because he shopped a semi retired Scottish lad in for drugs.
