A Thought: What about an Awards System

Post by gilgamesh »

I had this idea in the old noodle a second ago, and I was gonna run it by you guys to see what you thought of it. Do you guys think it would be cool if we had a "Knockout of the Week" or "Fight of the Week" type award offered every week for our fighters?

I realize a lot of you guys probably don't read all of the fights, mainly your own, that's why I made this thread...but still I thought it was an interesting idea. Let me know what you guys think.

I'd be happy to run the polls to decide the "Knockout of the Week" or "Fight of the Week" awards every week. So as not to put any more work on you guys than you already got.

Even if people like it, I think I'd save the idea for next season, but if I had waited until next season to ask I likely would've forgotten the idea altogether.

Like all other titles or awards in the Sim. They must be earned.

We are highjacking this idea......By weeks end, Jimmy Barry will be the proud owner of "All the Marbles".

The first "Awards" fight.

Ok....it's just a prototype.....but we are giving the idea some GBP style advertizing.

Maybe Kevo's fighter 'Fat Vasquez" can fight next week for his "Just Desserts".

Ok....now honestly....the only thing I've really mastered is the magic act of turning your management team into a duck, simply by issuing a challenge of Fenech vs Caballero. Then we do see the feathers fly. Otherwise....I'm just another good citizen who does what he can. And outside of requesting all the marbles, never asks for much.

Now....as for next week, title or not, you should answer the call, with no further excuses or stalling.

OR...you will be rewarded with the "DUCK OF THE WEEK" award.

I like the idea so I say we start looking at doing this, I always thought we should have a fight of the year type of award that can be featured in the hall of fame.

there has already been so many great fights already this season even going back to week 1, Gomez vs Jofre was a classic to open the season.

maybe it could work by managers nominating fights they think were great that week and then we set up a poll to decide which fight is fight of the week.

At the end of the season we can have one final poll for all the winners of the weekly award and find the fight of the season.

I can do this, but Gil or anyone else that wants to compile the fights and make the polls is more than welcome to contribute.

It appears the Awards System has been voted Yes pretty unanimously by you fellas.

I'll put it into effect starting in Week 15.

I'll read through all of the fights, and make a poll for the 4 most obvious choices for Fight of the Week and Knockout of the Week. There will also be a 5th slot (Other) in case any of you fellas should see fit to nominate a Fight or KO that I didn't.

The polls will run for 4 days, and at the end of those 4 days the awards will be given to the winners of the respective Polls.
