He genuinely loves the sport & his place in it. He seems like a kid on Chrimbo morning.

I don't imagine it's like printing money and more than a few promoters, managers and trainers have their families involved so I imagine that they consider it a better way of making a good living than working in a 'normal' job.
For the younger Warrens and Eddie Hearn for instance, the hard graft - the getting into the sport, making contacts and the experience of who to work with and who can be trusted is done - they can reap the rewards though I imagine it's not as easy as it looks; I imagine it's a fair bit easier than getting punched around for a few hundred quid or shovelling 10 ton of hard core.
For the trainers and managers I realise that they must have a love of the sport (or an unhealthy interest in being around other men in a gym environment) some do well out of the sport and some put an awful lot of time in for little monetary reward (or it costs them money).

Bit of a daft move to leave allegedly for Hennessy.

I agree, mate. This is not just about Froch v Groves but also about Eddie Hearns legacy on the sport. He won't be as pissed of as me; he'll be able to console himself with the million or so quid he'll make that night and I'll have spent £15, worked myself into a fever of hate and anticipation and then been let down; it's happened before and it's not pretty to see.

I just hope Nigel Kennedy isn't playing the anthem.
Re: Froch v Groves Undercard
James DeGale vs Brandon Gonzales has been added to the undercard. Final eliminator. Very good test for DeGale.

Re: Froch v Groves Undercard
I'd not heard of Gonzalez before but looking at his record Degale should be beating him fairly comfortably. He's had a lot of very close points wins and drew his fight before last.

Re: Froch v Groves Undercard
So far we have
Froch v Groves
Mitchell v Maduma IBF Eliminator
DeGale v Gonzales IBF Eliminator
Joshua v TBA
If Eddie hadn't done his usual of bigging the show up and bragging how good it would be, "at least 1, possibly 2 world title fight" "a massive domestic showdown" I'd of been well happy with that so far. With McDonell also likely to be in a eliminator it leaves a lot to be desired from what was originally promised

That draw was against Thomas Oostenhuizen (excuse spelling) who is a decent enough prospect himself - although he needs to be at Light Heavy.SteveDow wrote:I'd not heard of Gonzalez before but looking at his record Degale should be beating him fairly comfortably. I wouldn't classify this as an easy fight for Degale.
Re: Froch v Groves Undercard
Should Froch-Groves end the way Hall-Ward did then what should be a 'great' night for British boxing may suddenly change to a Haye-Harrison type backlash. I would have thought that a decent undercard was some sort of insurance that that wouldn't be the case. Not good enough at the moment.

Tommy was HORRIBLE that night, gift draw for him there.Taansend wrote:That draw was against Thomas Oostenhuizen (excuse spelling) who is a decent enough prospect himself - although he needs to be at Light Heavy.SteveDow wrote:I'd not heard of Gonzalez before but looking at his record Degale should be beating him fairly comfortably. You should still be happy and don`t get caught up with what Hearn says on ifilm nothing was promised,he also said expect two area title fights and anything else is a bonus I know he was joking but the point is not to take everything said to Kugan as a promise, just what he would try to make for the card.jackukmma wrote:So far we have

Re: Froch v Groves Undercard
He downplayed it this time but still promised at least 1 world title possibly 2. Suppose if he's got McDonnell a shot at the WBA regular he's fulfilled his promise. If that comes off the undercard is the best PPV undercard he's produced by a mileashedward wrote:You should still be happy and don`t get caught up with what Hearn says on ifilm nothing was promised,he also said expect two area title fights and anything else is a bonus I know he was joking but the point is not to take everything said to Kugan as a promise, just what he would try to make for the card.jackukmma wrote:So far we have

Fair play mate, I take what he says to Kugan on Ifilm with a pinch of salt because he gets carried away with talking about the fights he would like to makejackukmma wrote:He downplayed it this time but still promised at least 1 world title possibly 2. Re: Froch v Groves Undercard
Noticed on his IFL chat yesterday he said 2 fights announced for the undercard next week one of which is a world.
