I always enjoyed watching Michael box; he was well schooled and had a good brain. To get Jimmy Vincent out so quickly was a good result though Jimmy should have not gotten in the ring, he should have pulled out. It's a shame Jennings got cut in the Kell Brook bout, I imagined he'd have picked it up after halfway. Hope he still enjoys the fell running, it seems a fantastic discipline and pass time. Nice to see him post here, I reckon he's the temprament to enjoy it.

I try keep up with all the boxing. I have my own gym now, Jennings Gym. We are fully affiliated with the ABA and got some decent kids coming through. I also train Matty Askin and got a few lads wanting to turn over to the pro game. Me and my brother train the lads, seem to be in the gym more now than I was when boxing ha. In the the gym as I write this message putting a new canvas on the ring. Love boxing and always will.

Nice to know you are still on the scene Micheal, not heard much about you, I had my lad sparring with you, over there, I think you had a few injuries later on, though you performed well against Kell Brook until the head clash, you was always a good spar, good technically and great stamina.

Thanks for all the replies and glad you enjoyed watching me box. Always been involved in boxing for the past 23 years and will be hopefully involved for the next 23 years. Yea I still love the fell running too, taking the lads from gym running tomorrow on the fells. Gonna be entering a few races this year

Nice thread, mate. Liked your boxing style so being able to get the 'human' side of you as well is a bonus for us anoraks.

Who was your toughest opponent outside of Brook & Cotto (or should I say Cotto & Brook?).

The amount of times I've heard fighters say someone obscure is incredible.

The only time I saw mj was at York hall v Francie Barrett & I think mike was guilty of giving him abit too much respect in a close fight. Great boxing skills & footwork!

Dave could mix it too. I saw him box as an amateur and unlicensed (in Blackpool if I remember right). Could have easily had a strong winning record as a pro.

As you can see, almost every boxer who comes on here gets very favourable comments. We all like to hear what a boxers view is, after all the were only interested in the sport because of the boxers - nobody else really matters, they only facilitate.

But, Michael, sensible comments!! Don't get involved in personal slagging matches. Keep it to boxing matters.
