Iron Mike Towell

Post by JamieM »

How do you match him? He's an excellent talent and one who I would fast track! He genuinly is relentless and has a very good chin to go with it and leaves it all in the ring, what path do you take him on? I'd love to see him fight on the ronnie Clark v Troy James undercard against someone like terry carruthers or Jason wellborn, for me he'll bowl the journeyman over! Him and ronnie could sell a lot of tickets and the atmosphere would be unreal, boxing in dundee is booming

Mike has improved but I'm not sure about fast tracking him, I would like to see a rematch with Rhys Pagan because of the stoppage that although i thought was good Rhys's management team and coaches didn't see it that way! I'd then like to see him have a few fights with decent opposition to try give him rounds and show him that he needs to learn to pace himself because to fight at that pace for 10-12 rounds he will need to be super fit!!!

Jamie Coyle knows the business and I'm sure he and Tommy will have a plan for Mike.

Get him in with John McCallum another undefeated fighter, and would be a good defence ... even though i thought the stoppage was soft, i would say based on that performance he would beat John .

That would be a good fight, John is a talented boxer but can be drawn into a war!! Who is John promoted by now?

Very good match there Gary, I feel he's going to be fighting craig Kelly next then possibly john mccallum, he's very good and I can see him stopping both, exciting stuff for a Scottish fighter ad even if he's not winning he needs to be on tv

Didn't Don King charge Tyson 2 grand for towels at the height of his career?

Spot on Eddie, he'd love it, hope they do a welter or light middle one soon, he's quite funny too with his antics also just needs to stay active, pagan deserves a rematch though.

They just had a welterweight prizefighter, no chance of another for a while now.

Michael has been underdog in his last two fights and come out on top, imho prizefighter etc all wrong for him,a clever boxer could jab and run and beat him over 3 rounds on points, but hes non stop pressure and will will wear guys down in the long run,hes a fit lad and I believe hed do 8-10 rounds no probs, its still early days hes a confident lad with the heart of a lion,I hope gilmore keeps the momentum going and gives him a few more tough tests instead of fighting any journeymen, the laddie relishes the challenge and I believe he can go far

He seemed pretty sure Thursday that his future lies at Light Middle, said it was a struggle to make Welter.

I would be delighted for Davey Drummond if he was to get a spot on Ronnie and Troy's undercard in June, unlikely but he can do with a bit of luck and needs to get out soon and regular

Yeah I think Troys promotion team would do really well to bring in Mikey Towell and Davie Drummond on the card as a Scotland v England feel always sells tickets I feel. I know its hard to do this but it wont be from Scotlands side as Davie and Mikey wont care who the fight haha, Dundee boys are all the same:)

I had tickets for Davey's last scheduled fight in Motherwell couple months back until Paul Graham pulled him off bill about 2 days before it,i felt rotten needing to get my money back for all the tickets i got,we had to cancel bus etc, fighting on the bottom rungs a thankless task

He,s signed up to Boxrec now so hopefully he can jump on the bandwagon of you(Jamie) and Davidee,s inevitable wind up.s with Team James and worm his way on the bill by getting involved in the shennanigans :OhYes:

Think the only way Davie would get a fight would be up at Cruiserweight against Chris Keane. Keane a very good Cruiser and Davie more of a light heavy but never say never. As for Mikey I would think he would be best at Welter or even light welter.. A tad too small for light middle that was noticeable against Pagan.. I think at the right weight he would be a nightmare for anyone in the uk.. Errol Johnson is co promoting and has a few fighters at those weights. Maybe Tommy could get onto him and try and get the Dundee lads on.. Hopefully get a big support down from Dundee
