Fair point, and I guess indirectly aimed at the Olympians with Matchroom. Fwank also banged the drum about how good he is at moving fighters, there's no doubt about that but tonight it backfired a bit.

If you can successfully run the world's only dedicated TV channel, your own stable doesn't need to be full of expensive Olympians. You are in the business of supplying regular content to your subscribers. Unless Sky launched their own Boxing channel, they are not competing against BN. Matchroom is about as full of British boxers as its going to get, and there's plenty left for Fwank. I bet his ego is bruised, with all the big names at the rival camp. I hope the channel survives and prospers :TU:
I think his best bet is to manage the channel and get other promoters onto his channel like Mick, etc, so he doesnt have to deal with the promotional side of things.

He is doing that to a degree in that he has McGuigan and Hobson onboard and part of Hennessy's stable with the Fury's.

I think he should just cut loose completely or something! Give the fighters that he does have left over to his sons or something.

And Warburton gets it 39-38, well deserved win for him, one of those fighters that you wonder what might have been if he could sell a few tickets, or if a big promoter had got hold of him early on in his career.
Fact!!!

The channel is losing £4m a year. Signing up small hall promoters and Meaty Mick won't turn that around. It will just add cost with next to no increase in revenue (surely all those who'd want to see smaller shows are already subscribing?).

I tend to agree with Columbo. Does FW still need to churn out run of the mill domestic fare? Why not focus on the international events and the occasional Haye v Chisora / Fury v Chisora (maybe) type showdown?

Mark knows his stuff, he was a good boxer and is an intelligent man, he won't get appreciated in his own light until his dad retires.

That was frustrating to watch as I backed McKenzie to win in rounds 1 to 3

Although the matchmaking wasn't good for the fighters, something should be said about the quality of the bouts; they were better. This imo was the best FW show in a while because although the home fighters lost - and they were upset losses lets not forget, they weren't fed to the wolves - the matches were competitive/semi competitive and there was drama and entertainment. Much better than the usual cards consisting of 6 prospects vs passive 'journeymen' with one half decent main, but a card with tests for the home fighters throughout (Eubank jr one was short notice so gets a pass.)

Though this time the gamble didn't pay off, I hope this style of matchmaking - with a few tweaks for business purposes - catches on domestically.

Fair play to 'allegedly' on this one

Yeah Mckenzie isnt the best opponent for a guy who clearly doesnt take a shot well.

I know amazing, especially seen has the matchmaker refused Chris Keane to fight conquest on numerous occasions saying, no way would we put Conquest in with Keane, too risky

Oh yh, ok mate sound, but you'll put him in with Ovill ? :salut:

We (Team Keane ) would like to make Keane Vs Ovill, that would be explosive IMO, both big punchers, both non ticket sellers, both in the too risky to fight club, be a good fight for fans IMO especially if it could be put on somewhere in the midlands, close to both lads home towns.

Hard to do if both don't sell tickets, Promoters dictate nowadays, they have to make it work financially, Mckenzie is ok because he has the added advantage of having the title, but he might be forced to defend away from home, would be a great fight in the midlands between Mckenzie and Keane, both can punch, Keane could out box him, but if decides to stand and trade, it will be explosive, he could get tagged early or ko Mckenzie late on, my bet would be that Keane will box him especially in the early rounds, shame the Froch/Groves fight was not in Nottingham, it would have been ideal for the undercard, still could be in London, be a nice fight under a big fight, but as a top of the bill fight, they would need a lot of big ticket sellers on the undercard, Errol Johnson might be able to make it work, in the Wolverhampton civic or in walsall, I am more interested in this fight then the other cruisers.
