Nelson and Smith.
Anyone else find them cringe worthy at times?
1) The way a fighter tells them something, 'This reminds me of the Eubank Benn era.
Then Johnny asks them 'does this excite you like the Eubank Benn era?
And they need to stop laughing at and encouraging the 'Ugly Kid' Jokes from Degale.
Its shameful and knowing kids watch the show they should put a stop to it.
Give me Bunce every time.

Re: Nelson and Smith.
Sorry bunce does my head in even more
Re: Nelson and Smith.
Buncey is less scripted - he is quality
Re: Nelson and Smith.
Bunce must be the worst presenter of any show anywhere.
Re: Nelson and Smith.
I prefer Bunce, he just seems to enjoy it and he's funny once in a while. I don't mind Smith or Nelson to be honest, they're good at what they do and anyone who replaced them would have people complaining about something or other.

Buncey has the face for radio.
And the voice for a kids tv programme.

If I'd been involved in a car accident, and lost the use of my legs, I'd still find it funnier than DeGale going; "Ugleeee Boyyy" at Groves.

Re: Nelson and Smith.
Smith and Nelson are almost too theatrical it just doesn't sit right. Its tough a job though being engaging without going OTT or being knowledgable without being a tad one paced. I thought at one stage Sky would be looking to get Andy Scott into the seat at Ringside but I'm thinking if Smith does step back from it Ed Draper might be a good choice. He's good on toe 2 toe, he's not the most knowledgeable but has presenting pedigree.
Problem with Bunce is he talks over guests and inflicts his thoughts onto them - always saying "it must have felt like...." etc. Great on the podcast though, a real pro. On a side note - the production quality of the ESPN podcast (barring the odd jingle in the wrong place) is so much better than skys. The levels for audio are all over the place on t2t and not consistant, have to adjust my volume loads. ESPN's is much better. Surprising really considering the size of Sky.
I digress. Anyway, I always like Dempsey - he too may be another well educated presenter (which has for some reason always been a criticism of Smith, Robinson and Francis by people on this board etc - one I don't really share) but he dials it in and I'm still impressed with him on BT Sport. Shame about the haircut though.
To digress again I thought the quality of the West Ham piece on ringside was near spot on. Then they do a bit on Peacock and TKO and the quality and feel just sag. Sometimes I'm not sure if Ringside knows what it is - billed as a magazine show but desperately wants to make a high quality documentary. Perhaps they should separate the two (I know they've focussed stuff on one thing before i.e. sheffield steel) and have a once monthly documentary instead of an episode of Ringside.

Re: Nelson and Smith.
I hate the way smith belittles johnnys achievements.
Say what you like about johnnys style but he was champ for a long time often going on the road to defend his belt and for a little weazel like smith to sit there mocking him is bang out of order imo.
For what it's worth i reckon johnny would have stopped enzo if they had fought, maybe then he'd have got more credit.

I think it's a matey piss taking thing and it looks like Johnny enjoys it. I imagine that some boxers would get upset and prickly if Smith did it, Nelson and Smith must get along pretty well.chiggsy wrote:I hate the way smith belittles johnnys achievements.

I think johnny knows his job depends on his chemistry with smith so plays the clown a little too much but that doesn't give smith the right to belittle what he did during his pro career imo.
You know how hard this sport is mate and you know what a remarkable story johnnys is in that he went from journeyman to world champ,so tell me would you like those achievements belittled week in week out by some quiff sporting public school boy?
I think johnny plays a role that if he was honest isn't entirely comfortable with but does so to keep his (fantastic) job.

No. Johnny is a bit of a joker with not a bad bone in his body. He's worse on ifilm and they have nothing to offer him. He's done so, so well to get the gig.

Give me Steve Bunce any day. Hes the reason i manage to stay up through the night during the breaks between fights in the US. Also a nice guy in person, met him in Belfast a few weeks ago. Does anyone else think Johnny Nelson is a bit racist?

No why?
It's not the type of thing you should accuse someone of either unless you have evidence.

Re: Nelson and Smith.
I agree - I have often thought why Nelson takes this sh!t from Little Lord Fontleroy - but then I remember, he is getting paid (probably) a decent wedge to talk about boxing on TV - how good is that ?chiggsy wrote:I'm not so sure mate.palooka wrote:I think it's a matey piss taking thing and it looks like Johnny enjoys it. I'd laugh if Nelson turned round and floored Adam one day, after being the butt of one too many of his jokes.bripez wrote: I agree - I have often thought why Nelson takes this sh!t from Little Lord Fontleroy - but then I remember, he is getting paid (probably) a decent wedge to talk about boxing on TV - how good is that ?
