Collazo 3/1 to beat Khan

Post by Wales »

Is it me, or does anyone else see Collazo flatten him with a left hook?

Or the right hook, Khan brings the jab back too slowly sometimes, roll under it, slip to the right, come back over the top with the right hook, lights out again.

7/2 betvictor

Or is was when I placed mine. One of the lads picked up 15/1 the first hour.

Yeah, we discussed this gem in the betting thread. Believe it or not Collazo opened at 5/1 with Victor Chandler (!!!) A lot of us agreed this is one of the more charitable of the bookies' many endeavours to give their money away.

Collazo is the sturdy sort that will give Khan nightmares. I fully expect Khan to make Luis look slow and silly early doors but then fold when he realises Collazo isn't going anywhere.

That was very good odds, I think Khan will get stopped late on 3 years since he looked good.

Great odds....I see Khan losing. I actually think, despite his age, we have seen his best days. Maidana gave him too much of a beating IMO

I think his prime was Mallinaggi to Judah.

I think the year out will work massively against him

I think Khan wins this fight fairly easily.

As I've said on other threads though I am basing this on Khan's style under Roach. Will be interesting to see whether another year of training under Hunter has evolved or devolved him.

But I just see Khan peppering him with fast, sharp flurries & ending the fight with a body shot somewhere in the middle of the bout.

Which has probably put the mockers on Khan :DD

The thing I find more disturbing is that Hunter has come out on more than one occassion (not so much lately) saying that Khan needed to spend more time focussing on his boxing and improving up in California. Virgil was giving off the impression that Khan was too focused on the celebrity life.

Khan's footwork's poor though, which will always count against him when fighting a southpaw and Collazo will comfortably outweigh him come fight night. Collazo's too awkward and clever to pepper with flurries and Khan seems to be caught in two minds now he's moved to train with Hunter, his defence has tightened up, but at the expense of a lot of what he did well going forward. As the fight goes on, Khan will find that Collazo's still in front of him, coming forward, at that point he's in trouble because he can't fight on the back foot and he's too open for Collazo to keep missing.

khan should have been taught to fight on the back foot from early on in his career. he'd have been fantastic had he worked on that rather than banging out no hopers for the first 15 or so fights of his resume. oh well, such is life

just watched the collazo v ortiz fight due to this thread. Ortiz quit he wasnt even hurt that badly, he's a f**king disgrace. If khan wins its a great win for him, but if he loses at least we know he will go out on his shield rather than take a knee and quit, then walk around the ring looking happy that he earned a quick payday.

agree 100%, good summary.

It's incredible really the sheer consensus I've seen on Boxrec in favour of a 3/1 underdog. The fact that I haven't seen a really compelling case for Khan to win this speaks volumes about how odd the price is (how many misinformed people must be sticking dosh on Khan).

BOOM, just emptied the clips on Collazo KO with Betfred. Bit disappointed it wasn't wider than 7/2, was expecting 4s at least but can't complain. Tempted to do more...

Have I missed something? Since when was Collazo such a fearsome opponent? Ortiz is clearly mental so I wouldn't read anything into that win. Khan's chin is dodgy but I think people are guilty of forgetting he is a very significant offensive force.

significant when he has a size advantage. cant remember when khan last scored a straight ko...but im sure it would have been against a career super feather . he wont be able to bully collazo. also, khan has enough truoble avoiding danger against orthodox fighters, so i wouldnt be too optimistic about his chances going in with a big southpaw.

I agree with this,i can just see him getting caught with a right hook,Collazo is not the right opponent for a welterweight debut after a year out following a poor performance from a past it Diaz.

A lot of people are going to feel silly when Khan beats him at a canter. I'll feel silly of Collazo wins, but I don't see it.

I'm with you. Khan's defence is open, but what's the shot that got him going against (deep breath) Prescott, Gomez, Diaz & Garcia? An orthodox left hook.

He couldn't block Peterson's uppercuts through the middle nor Maidana's but I can only think of Maidana & Limond having success against him with right hands. Both that pair are of course orthodox & throw nothing like Collazo's right hook, which is I seem to remember his best punch.

I was massively wrong when Collazo fought Ortiz & he shocked me, but I will be astonished--again, like--if he can knock out Khan. I've got Amir belabouring him from outside with long-armed flurries for a wide points win (notwithstanding the odd scary moment along the way). Khan is of course prone to converting odd scary moments into shocking knockout defeats but, I feel, not this time.

khan just does not hit hard enough to keep anyone off him or away for 12 rounds they just walk through him and i think collazo will too.

When Amir khan is his opponent.

Anyone with a chin who has two functional arms has a chance, let alone a big (albeit not huge) welterweight .

Not only inactive, but When was Khan last impressive? 4 years ago?
