After an utter masterclass from Bernard Hopkins in which he practically won every round and scored a knock down, how on earth did one judge score that fight to Shumenov? I just don't understand what some judges see in fights. No doubt the judge would say that he scored in favour of Shumenov for "aggression" but if you are not landing anything of note and are being countered regularly with hard shots surely just marching forward shouldn't, in itself, win you points.
We seem to see this type of rubbish all the time and it really spoils certain fights. Thankfully Hopkins got the decision and so there will be no real controversy but a wide U/D should have been the only result there.

That was utterly disgraceful, at least as bad as 114-114 in the Mayweather-Canelo fight imo.
Shumenov also got one of the biggest gifts of recent years when he got the decision in the Campillo rematch. Hmmmmm.......

I'm delighted with the Hopkins win as I had a lot of money on him but the scorecards suggest the fight was close and that couldn't have been further from the truth. Takes the gloss off a bit for Hopkins.

Someone on the CS explained to me that in the US a lot of money is bet about whether a win is by UD, when a judge creates a SD he/she is saving/making the bookies/casinos a lot of money - far more will be put on a UD win than a SD.

That's the first time I've seen Shumenov fight and I'm astounded he's beaten anyone of note. He's slow he's predictable and very easy to hit even by a 49 year old alien.
The scoring was outrageous. How anyone could give Shumenov more than round is insane.

I thought he won three.

Though if you accept that the judge was not scoring the fight but to get a certain result (a SD) then it is very rational and far from insane.
