Carl froch starts sparring today with......
......Chris Eubank junior according to Eubank on twitter, is that a good choice of sparring partner to prepare for groves or is he to small to inexperienced and not really going to benefit anyone apart from Eubank himself ?

Good sparring. He sparred Groves for the first fight. Chris will be learning loads too.

If Chris' fights are anything to go by, it'll be 1 minute of sparring and 2 minutes of posturing & looking out of the ring. ;;-)
Re: Carl froch starts sparring today with......
Interesting as he usually works with Groves. Also he defended Groves on twitter last time out calling for a rematch blah blah
Re: Carl froch starts sparring today with......
Carl has been putting in a lot of rounds with Anthony Fowler. Fowler has been dissing Eubank Jr on Twitter. Would be good to see if while he's up there, Eubank Jr spars Fowler.
Froch needs better sparring in my opinion. Although, I guess why change it now. But if you were Groves, who can you actually get thats similar to Froch. Cleverly perhaps but his style is very different. Other attributes may be similar.

Fowler is a terrific choice IMO, world class amateur, fast punches hard from different angles and young. If Froch needs to sharpen up then fowler a his man. By the way Eubanks owt to stay away from AF in sparrin, could be embarrassing for the unbeaten prospect!!!
Re: Carl froch starts sparring today with......
Not doubting Fowlers class and choice as a local sparring partner. But he's not a 12 round fighter yet (you might argue neither is George).manno wrote:Fowler is a terrific choice IMO, world class amateur, fast punches hard from different angles and young. I'm looking forward to seeing Fowler back in the ABA's this year. Him v Vanzie would be a corker.
Re: Carl froch starts sparring today with......
Yeh would think they probably using AF for a specific technical reason. Saw Vanzie burst onto scene in local abas a few seasons back, badly Kayoed a really durable, experienced club lad at 81, you've gotta go with fowler tho, seems to have won ev national champs he entered! Who you go for?

He's defo good enough to spar Froch. He won't be Froch's only sparring partner. I can see him mimicking Groves quite welljessi wrote:......Chris Eubank junior according to Eubank on twitter, is that a good choice of sparring partner to prepare for groves or is he to small to inexperienced and not really going to benefit anyone apart from Eubank himself ?

Fowler is a good choice. He doesn't need to be a 12 round fighter as he'll no doubt only be used for 3/4 rounds with two or three others to give Carl 12 hard rounds.
Re: Carl froch starts sparring today with......
Fowler all the way. Pure class and has real technical skill outside of his punch. He seems like he really wants it too.manno wrote:Yeh would think they probably using AF for a specific technical reason. Shame what happened in the worlds - think he would have done the job.

I can imagine Eubank jnr causing Carl some problems in sparring with his angles, etc.

Someone on another site claiming Eubank Jr dropped Froch twice.

It's an odd one but the poster atberry on Esb is normally spot on with things related to the Eubanks.

All 'atberry' says is "Some say Eubank Jr dropped him twice in two rounds"...
So that's hardly conclusive proof!

He's not even a puncher. It's rubbish. I would put my life on it.
Re: Carl froch starts sparring today with......
16,18 oz gloves head guards, proven world class durability ( v groves accepted!) v a prospect yet to be proven at domestic level? Very hard to believe.

By dropped, he's mean they were doing the wheel barrow workout (hold the guys legs while they walk on their hands, good for upper body). Eubank wasn't strong enough to hold himmanno wrote:16,18 oz gloves head guards, proven world class durability ( v groves accepted!) v a prospect yet to be proven at domestic level? So yesterday Froch kept his gob shut, and was diligently sparring a decent unbeaten prospect.
Meanwhile Groves is riding a double decker bus around London, telling everyone how great he is, that he is taking off Froch's head - and that thousands are coming to see Froch get beaten.
I'd say Carl had the more productive day.

There was always going to be a play on the St George's day angle. Sky would have demanded it and you know it. You're just upset because Carl got dropped twice by a non puncher wearing big gloves...G0mez wrote:So yesterday Froch kept his gob shut, and was diligently sparring a decent unbeaten prospect.
