There's been plenty of fairytale wins in boxing mate. That's one of the things that makes it such an interesting sport. You are only one punch from disaster. As many favourites have found in the past.

All the knockers of Alex seem to be the same ones that said Danny Green had no chance against Roy Jones Jnr, maybe you will be eating humble pie again. Alex is not going to Germany for his good looks. There is never no chance in boxing just look at Lionel Rose, Jonny Fameshon,Jeff Harding ect all boxers that had very little chance at winning a World Title is some one own back yard but came home with the belt.I have seen enough fights in my life time to be able so say its not over till the final bell. Im proud to be able to say I have know Alex since he first started boxing as an amature 10 year or so ago Win lose or draw Alex will have given his all. Come on all lets get behind him I for one have booked the fight on fox, how about you guy get it booked too.

Leapai gave his all. But Wlad K is just too big and too good for probably everyone in the heavyweight division. No shame in losing to someone that big and dominant.

He did ok though his lack of head movement and his lack of feinting in made him a sitting target. He did as well as expected I suppose.

the news last night (NZ) said Leapai' attempted at the world title as one of the worst in history and a complete farce. thats a bit rough imo it looked like any other Klitshcko fight. Mormeck did worse and a heap of Tysons opponents back in the day. people love to see someone fail. good on you Alex i say you got further than most!

Just thought if Alex had landed his rite hand even once it may have changed the fight, but to land it first you have to through it. Mismatch or not Alex was never going to turn down the chance to fight for a World Title. :yay:

We all knew the result was inevitable, but kudos to Alex for taking the "upwards, ever upwards" route, and then for ensuring of the future financial security for his family with his pay cheque.

A good rest up, then a few fights against better calibre locals or decent imports will continue Alex's drawing powers.

if someone as agile and quick as david haye had huge trouble with wlads jab then its no shame that alex couldn't get past it.

nice of u to be so supportive...but Leapai had absolute nothing...he ducked and weaved like Frazier in the first round...but had no left hook at all...and the right hand i seen (maybe twice) was a round arm that was embarassinlg telegraphed...how did this chump deserve a title shot? with his record
unlike basically every other HW out there, he earned it. his resume was plenty sufficient due to the fact that the last person before wlad was actually the #1 ranked contender to wlads wbo title.
really happy for alex to get as far as he did. hope he can now get a few more solid fights, if he still plans on it of course.
I for one have enjoyed watching him for a few years now(saw him sparring solo at the bris fitness expo a few years ago, been a fan since).
hope we get to see plenty more of him.

Alex is no quitter he will be back hopefully bigger and stronger. With his fight for a World Title he is no longer a $200 a round fighter . Have some time off with your family Alex. :yay:

If the fight only went one round Alex would have been shocking. Klitschko was at his very best and not to many top fighters would have lasted as long as Alex did.

You know he may have went a few rounds more had he listen to his corner, But then again Klitschko has adapted to all types of fighters that it maybe of been no use anyway.

easy for me to say, but I bet he wishes he charged wlad instantly and try and get to him before he got into his groove.

Sorry chaps,

Was oversees on holiday and have just got back.

We all knew this was going to be a one sided affair. We all love Alex to bits on this forum as he is a warrior. But I knew that Alex would not have anything to trouble Wlad. Everytime Alex tried to get close but Wlad he just did the same thing all the time. Right the way through the fight you see alex trying to move forward to get in position to unleash, and everytime he did Wlad kept side stepping to the right and countered with a trademark jab, sometimes doubleing up. What that did was to put alex on a difficult angle to attack and also opened him up defensively to the jab.

There was no plan B from Team lionheart. But is this the worse challenge for a HW title, no definately not as I think Audley Harrison has that.

It was a superb game plan from Wlad which looked well drilled from his camp, and showed that he does'nt take any opponent for granted as they must have studied Alex's fights very closely to come up with that one simple tactic, sidestep and jab, sidestep and jab, and continue until Alex was cooked.

There will be plenty more fights for Alex, but Wlad is a future HOF and heads and shoulders above any HW in the world.

That about sums it up.
