Khan ,haters and doubters

Post by Anzi »

Brilliant performance against Collazo, so called beast, showed his doubters that. he is still a force in boxing, whilst the haters will still hate, many of them are broke today

Great fight by Khan. Looked fit but no real power. Mayweather still too good for him though. Would like to see him get his chance though.

nicely taken :salut:

it seems in the other thread Khan is taking some stick for holding too much - yet to his fans I guess, he is being lauded for his performance, possibly his "best ever". I always go to see him in the UK ever since the Mexican legend visited the shores. It's become a bit of a habit! It helps that I've always thought he was an alright guy. He tends to be like Marmite with people does Khan.

Held a lot but looked dangerous when he let his hands go. Although he did manage to drop collazo a few times it didnt look like collazo was respecting khan as a puncher. He spent 3/4 of the fight with his hands down trying to draw khan in and khan did seem slightly hurt in the 8th.

Khan on his day, when patient is capable of beating most fighters but we will defo see him being ko'd again no matter what weight he is at. Suppose thats why he is exciting!

Fair play to Khan. I was nervous for him going in and expecting Collazo to catch him at some point, but Khan boxed superbly!!

I for one am glad he has learnt to hold. The lad has no chin. He can stand there and get ko'd or he can acknowledge his weakness and when he feels uncomfortable he does something to nullify the threat. When Mayweather holds its a defensive masterclass, when khan holds its boring or portrayed as a bad thing.

IMO its part of the game and its one that khan, if he is to go on and win more world titles, has to embrace.

Doesn't that make him one of the most entertaining boxers on the planet though?

I would not profess to be a fan of khan, however, he is fantastic to watch.

What's not to love?

Though, if he had power to go with his vulnerability, I might actually have pictures of him on my bedroom wall, like I do Thomas Hearns & Jhonny Gonzalez.

PS: Only slightly homo.

Why not go on the RBR thread then freddy; this is a different topic on a different forum than RBR, most people come on here to comment on a fight they've seen on Sunday morning (don't mean to sound grouchy or be a dick) :salut:

Well done Anzi - your blind unquestioning support of Khan worked out for you this time. Good for you!

I for one think it's reasonable to consider Khan's flaws and discuss them ahead of a move into welterweight versus a fully fledged welterweight. It wasn't unreasonable to expect Collazo's size and toughness to win out. If this offends your idol worship then perhaps an Amir Khan fansite is a better place for you to discuss his fights. This is a place of debate.

Khan survived some hairy moments and came through. I thought both men looked finished as far as any big future goes. It was a very good fight and well done to Amir.

Khan was brilliant last night almost the perfect performance
At some points it was slightly excessive but I was really impressed with the way he nullified Collazo with his forearm/tying him up etc - some might not like it but this is pro boxing and elites like Ward and Floyd do it routinely. I can deffinatley see the influence of hunter and maybe even Ward himself and now that Amir has seen how the instructions worked in an actual fight it will give him more of a boost to improve further in the next camp. Great stuff king khan

Khan had too much speed and nounce for Collazo, Khan can fight v southpaws. Though Khan won handily I don't think Collazo is done at high level - he needs the right opponent to shine, he looked brilliant v Ortiz a few months ago. Khan is no where near finished; he looked better at welter and took some good whacks. To win by such a large margin when many thought (and bet money) that he'd get knocked clean out shows that Khan is better than many give him credit for.

If I were a Collazo fan I'd be down today but I reckon he'll turn a prospect or 2 over yet; Khan will continue to do well at welter.

Did it not look like very hard work for him in the middle rounds? He was also doing his smirking and shaking his head routine which he seems to do when stung by a blow. I don't know what the mood was here, but I was out and the room was on the edge of its seat. People didn't think he was going to make it to the end. This might sound the total opposite of the reading here, I'm just relating the reaction of a whole room of Khan supporters. Maybe it won't look that way in a replay. Needless to say I was a few pints in by this time.

You'll view it different 2nd time around. Most people are edgy watching Khan box - it's part of his appeal - if one of the boxers were to lose by shocking one punch knock out it would be Khan. Khan of course got hit hard in the fight - it's a fight against a very good fighter!

Collazo looked flustered after the 2nd round, he was being countered hard and often. If it was hard work for Khan in the middle rounds it was harder for Collazo - Khan was winning the rounds; of course it'd be hard work -Collazo was doing his best to win the fight, walk him down and hit him hard. I reckon it was harder work for Luis though and imagine he feels like he's been run over this morning.

Luis did well not to bail out in the 10th - Ortiz would have sat it out.

Ortiz would have taken the full 10 count after the 1st knockdown.

:salut: you're probably right there; I think though Khan isn't a massive one punch hitter he hits plenty hard - he's a very good fighter and that some people can only see the flaws in him says more about them than him I reckon.
