I don't think khan has real one punch ko power but he punches solid and often. Throw in his speed and thats why he has a respectable ko %. I can't recall seeing someone walk straight through khan like porter did to malignaggi.

Being extremely mediocre in the ring, yet acting like a superstar outside of it has been the norm for the last couple of years - hence people thinking he is a bell end.

He was dropped and nearly didn't make the final bell against Diaz in a half empty venue - and yet he was calling out Floyd Mayweather? tweeting that Floyd was running scared.

If people want to get on their soap boxes and say that people who thought he was deranged and would likely be stopped going into the Collazo fight - are now called "Haters" , then that's hilarious.

Keith Thurman & Shawn Porter - if we pick them over Khan are we haters? Better get used to it !

Khan was thought of as a Mayweather opponent because a lot of people attend and buy Khans fights - it is about the money and not deserts. It was Floyd who put out that Khan was in the picture - who'd have fought against that?

Welter is a very strong division and Porter and Thurman are excellent fighters. Khan is an excellent fighter and he boxed very well to beat Collazo - who many thought would beat him.

If Khan is a cock outside the ring, so what? There are other British World Champions who are also cocks out of the ring but get a pretty free ride.

I trust all the talk of Brook beating Khan will disappear into the ether - Khan is proven a full level above Brook, both at light welter and welter.

Why is Khan constantly connected to the word cock ?

If he's not acting like one, then he is lobbing his out on Skype.

I still think Brook has an excellent chance of beating khan. I understand brook is untested but I can only go on what I see. I think brook's timing and power would do for khan when he eventually caught him. I think as far as styles go, Khan is perfect for Brook.

Collazo looked void of ideas for most the fight when AK didn't crumble, leaving his hands by his waist wasn't a ploy, it was a desperate man looking to find his 1 way out of the fight with a win.

Collazo is not great, but a win over him cements Khan as legit top 10 in the 147 division... and it probably matches Thurmans best win with it.

I'd like to see him in against an Alexander type next , winnable but dangerous in a different way, and giving him a good chance to fully adjust to the weight.

Yep i'm a ton down today well done amir khan boxed perfectly and looked big and strong at the weight hope he gets his chance at mayweather.
nicely taken :salut:

it seems in the other thread Khan is taking some stick for holding too much - yet to his fans I guess, he is being lauded for his performance, possibly his "best ever". I always go to see him in the UK ever since the Mexican legend visited the shores. It's become a bit of a habit! It helps that I've always thought he was an alright guy. He tends to be like Marmite with people does Khan.
I'm not sure why Khan is disliked so much.

OK, he does suffer from mild forms of delusion of grandeur & he thinks he's a lot better than he actually is, but name me a boxer who isn't like this?

He doesn't trash talk or disrespect opponents or fans & his fights are mostly entertaining.

He also always wants to take on the best opposition which is surely what fans want from top fighters, but he still gets lots of flak.

Tuan_Jim wrote:Well done Anzi - your blind unquestioning support of Khan workedbt for you this time. Good for you!

I for one think it's reasonable to consider Khan's flaws and discuss them ahead of a move into welterweight versus a fully fledged welterweight. It wasn't unreasonable to expect Collazo's size and toughness to win out. If this offends your idol worship then perhaps an Amir Khan fansite is a better place for you to discuss his fights. This is a place of debate.

Khan survived some hairy moments and came through. I thought both men looked finished as far as any big future goes. It was a very good fight and well done to Amir.
You get worse, back handed compliment, then your usual trash, I am not a Amir Khan fan, only seen twice in the flesh, I just appreciate talented fighters and don't care for haters or people who claim to know and don't have clue, I mean Collazo was described as very good and was going to destroy Khan, by you and others, now he has won by the biggest margin, with knockdowns, he is again described as a non puncher and wait for it? Both fighters are finished according to you, you must be mad.

Great controlled performance from Khan. Held and pushed a bit too much but hey, better fighters (Ali, Mayweather) get away with such discressions all the time. Best performance since he outboxed Kotelnik. Kept to the game plan and didn't give the other guy too many chances to clock him and when he got clocked (round 7) he took it well and came back. If he boxes like that in every fight he's a handful for anyone at the very least.

You're a very good poster generally however to not give any credit to khan is wrong mate

You picked collazo big as did others. Why not give credit where it's due?

You were right. Watching a replay without a fight crowd present, and that sense of sudden death that hangs over a live Khan fight, he clearly bossed a proper tough guy and won about 10/2. A proper tough guy who did look to me a bit shopworn, and was boxing idiotically, but a tough and genuine welterweight nonetheless. That's probably Khan's best performance - Collazo a far more violent man than Kotelnik.

I've revised my opinion as new facts have come to light. Khan is clearly a handful at welterweight & I'm excited to see what he does next.

Hands up, I thought he would be smoked by a proven force at 147lb who was coming off an impressive KO win. That train of thought had been travelling along since the Peterson defeat, then the Garcia KO loss and the torrid Diaz fight in Sheffield.

I think he is a complete plum, and I make no apologies for that. But I don't "hate" the guy at all.

If he keeps his mouth shut, his webcam swtiched off and continues to do the business in the ring - then I might go back to being a fan again (I attended 4 of his first clutch of fights, shock horror)

I dunno. Diego Chavez is a very good fighter but unheralded as he'd only fought in Argentina. Khan boxed brilliantly last night though and deserves props for that.

Don't waste your time Shadrach. Critical thinking is beyond Anzi's simple brain. Any kind of objective analysis seems to upset him - he wants blind idol worship or nothing.
