Mayweather coming to UK in June/July
To Leeds university, then Glyndwr university (wrexham). Tickets to become available, allegedly.

On a more serious note the lectures will go something like "You work hard, you a winner. I came to Vegas with nuttin', now I'm a multi-millionaire. My daddy taught me everything, except what my uncles taught me. But I taught myself everything. Ho's be trippin'. I have 90 cars and can't decide which one to drive. Why am I in a country named after the world's largest mammal? I respect Amir Khan. Imma beat his ass. I'm the greatest fighter of all time, even though I didn't fight my biggest rival. I spend enough money on baseball caps to feed all the starving people in Africa. Bob Arum tried to make me a slave. Did I mention my cars?"

Yes, to study. He needs a plan B for after boxing. Catering, maybe? Fastest hands in the world of the commie chef.
Not sure of purpose of visit, but chance to see him in UK is great. Especially as post boxing he'll prob do something stupid that'll prohibit him from visiting uk again - a--la Tyson

An Irish mate of mine thinks Phil Taylor is the greatest athlete of all time (seriously
Floyd thinks HE is the greatest of all time.
Head to head it is then. Three rounds in the ring then first one to a 180.
Re: Mayweather coming to UK in June/July
Hate Phil Taylor, so id pay to see that. Best "athlete" (presume he means sportsman) of all time based on what? Winning multiple world titles in a sport only us and one or two other nations play! Like Baseball "the world series" in america. Only they play it! Basketball in the olympics !!
No idea what link is to these 2 universities but i "know" tickets will go on sale, so presumably some sort of talk? But why do that with his money? Also, ill bet the 2 unis will look to cash in and charge over the top.

Basketball, a prime example of inequality in sport - basically if youre under 6ft at 12yrs old theres no point even contemplating starting.
Re: Mayweather coming to UK in June/July
I live in the US (originally from London) & constantly mock my Yanks mates about the whole "Whole Champions" thing.Wales wrote: Like Baseball "the world series" in america. Only they play it! Basketball in the olympics !!
But in their defence the World Series of Baseball started when it was sponsored by an old New York newspaper named "The World".
But yes, any American who actually believes a US team is a 'world' champion because they won a US title is a knob and deserves to be mocked. Which I do. A lot.
Saying that, they call the President of the USA the 'Leader of the Free World"

Plus its just big boys rounders. We all tried rounders in primary school then sacked it off.Taansend wrote:I live in the US (originally from London) & constantly mock my Yanks mates about the whole "Whole Champions" thing.Wales wrote: Like Baseball "the world series" in america. The term "football" annoys me too, for obvs reasons. Doesnt make sense when they (almost) never use the foot.
Hey ho, their good points outweigh the bad.

Mate, you have no idea how upset Yanks get because we call football football
As far as I am concerned there are five versions of football. Proper football, Rugby football then the three regional versions - American, Aussie & Irish.
Re: Mayweather coming to UK in June/July
I catch myself calling it "soccer" when im over in america. Thats gut wrenching!
Re: Mayweather coming to UK in June/July
If I like the person I'll say soccer. If I'm up for a row I'll say football and go for it. It's fun. There's no argument they can use to win.Wales wrote:I catch myself calling it "soccer" when im over in america. Thats gut wrenching!
Re: Mayweather coming to UK in June/July
I think the purpose of his trip to Europe has something to do with his business investments - according to an interview with Ellerbe recently. However these University visits must be just an add on. Strange that he would visit those two in particular.
I was at the Peacock when he visited in 2009 to publicise the Marquez fight. It was Mayhem but I did manage a brief chat with Roger Mayweather.

Will he be mentioning himself in the third person?
I imagine a conversation between himself and Ricky hatton would be a confusing broth of planets, third persons and tickling contests

He's here 8 June primarily to launch his clothing range but whilst here he's doing dinners in Leeds and London.
There is then a tour planned starting mid June but a lot of people are jumping the gun because its not confirmed yet.

Re: Mayweather coming to UK in June/July
I reckon he's probably a nice guy. A talk with him is something that I would go to - tho like his little public workout in London a year or 2 back, it would be like flies round sh*t. Too crowded.Wales wrote:Yes, to study. He needs a plan B for after boxing. Catering, maybe? Fastest hands in the world of the commie chef.

All this best ever talk is OTT for me tho. Sure he's good, highly competent and gets results for for all his flaws, I take Muhammad Ali anyday, thankyou please.

I'm sure Alba.
Advertising and actually happening are a bit like Wazza bills.
I genuinely hope it does come off but personally I wouldn't buy a ticket until the Money Man confirms it.
The only date that is nailed on as far as I'm concerned is 8/6 Leeds.
If it does come off by the way add Leicester 18/6.
Final Round - whose twitter account is that from, and at which location ?
Mickey is right 21/6 Leeds already pulled.
